Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) is partnering with leading foreign exchange operator, Global Exchange, as Sydney’s new 24-hour airport prepares to welcome its first passengers on Sunday 25 October.
Global Exchange brings more than three decades of experience and operates in 30 countries offering foreign exchange services, including access to over 60 currencies.
WSI CEO Simon Hickey said the business was delighted to be partnering with Global Exchange – which delivers a range of convenient services for passengers at more than 90 international airports around the globe.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Global Exchange to WSI as the countdown to opening Sydney’s new 24-hour international gateway gets closer each week,” he said.
“Global Exchange brings a wealth of experience and valuable exchange services that our passengers will be able to conveniently access on their travels from WSI.
“It’s another critical piece of the excellent retail experience we’re excited to offer our passengers when we commence operations in October.”
Global Exchange will operate two bureaus at the terminal, along with ATM services. WSI passengers will also be able to utilise Global Exchange’s ‘click and collect’ service that allows customers to reserve currencies online in advance of their travels and collect them at the airport offices quickly and conveniently.
Global Exchange President & CEO Isidoro J. Alanis said the partnership with WSI represents a major step forward in the expansion of Global Exchange into the Asia Pacific market.
“We are proud of this partnership, which strengthens our world leading position in foreign exchange services at airports. It is a unique opportunity to support WSI from its first day of operations. We are committed to providing passengers with the same excellent service we offer at the 90 airports where we already operate globally, with the innovation, efficiency, and convenience that modern travelers demand”, he said.
Managing Director of Global Exchange in Australia Alberto Suarez, said partnering with WSI was a source of pride.
“We’re very excited to be partnering with WSI as it prepares to welcome its first passengers. The opening of this new airport is a major milestone for Australia’s aviation sector, and we’re thrilled to play our part in creating smooth, welcoming experiences through our foreign exchange services,” he said.
WSI Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Alison Webster said WSI is delighted to have Global Exchange on board to bring its innovative foreign exchange services to WSI, offering convenience and choice for WSI’s passengers, airport team, and other visitors.
“We continue to deliver on WSI’s retail vision, and we’ll be sharing more news about a range of other fantastic retail partnerships over the coming months as our opening day rapidly approaches,” she said.
WSI is on track to begin air cargo services from 26 July 2026 with passenger services taking off from 25 October 2026.
This 24-hour global gateway is Australia’s first major international greenfield airport development in more than 50 years, providing a world-class experience for travellers while supporting economic growth and enhanced connectivity for Greater Sydney.
