New Chairman of the Supervisory Board nominated by the State of Brandenburg

Werner Gatzer is the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB). He was unanimously elected by the Supervisory Board members at today’s meeting on 3 July 2026.

The 67-year-old lawyer, a former State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance and current Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bahn AG, who was nominated for the Supervisory Board at the recommendation of the shareholder, the State of Brandenburg, takes up the post with immediate effect.

Gatzer was previously appointed to the Supervisory Board at the shareholders’ meeting and brings with him inter alia a wealth of experience in infrastructure, transport and finance as a former member of the FBB Supervisory Board.

Shareholder representatives of the State of Brandenburg in the Supervisory Board recommended Gatzer succeed Jörg Simon, whose regular term as a representative of the State of Berlin ended in June. Holger Rößler, trade union secretary of ver.di – Berlin district, remains Deputy Chairman.
