AVPartners has installed a permanent large-scale kinetic orb system in the flagship ballroom at The Star Brisbane, integrating it with the venue’s existing 32-metre LED canvas to give event designers full programmable control of the room.

The orbs suspend from the six-metre ceiling, with movement and colour programmable in sync with content on the LED wall. The system extends the design surface beyond the screen and into the room’s architecture.

The 32-metre LED display is built from one-metre banner sections that split and reposition to follow the room as it divides into different formats. A single ultra-wide canvas for a plenary. Segmented screens for breakouts. A reconfigured backdrop for a gala dinner. The screen moves with the format, not against it.

Multiple content sources can play across the configurations at once, including live camera feeds, presentations, translation graphics, and closed captioning. The kinetic orbs now operate alongside the screen under a single integrated production system.

AVPartners first deployed the orb system at several major national industry events. Following that performance, the orbs are now permanently in place and available across all events held in the ballroom.

Since The Star Brisbane opened in 2024, AVPartners has delivered more than 500 events at the venue, including the Australian Tourism Exchange Welcome Reception for more than 2,000 delegates, major charity galas, and Riverfire celebrations.

David Raymond, Partner at AVPartners, said the install expands the design options available to clients booking the ballroom.

“The 32-metre LED already set the bar for scale in Brisbane. The kinetic orbs build on that by giving our clients a programmable ceiling working with the screen, so the entire room can be choreographed for any event.”
