Leading Australian adventure tourism company, Experience Co Limited (EXP), has acquired West Beach Adventure, one of South Australia’s premier aerial adventure destinations. The Park, which features a range of exciting elevated outdoor challenges will sit in the Group’s Treetops Adventure business unit and marks the first time that this business unit has entered South Australia.
In a prime location on the beautiful West Beach, just 15 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, West Beach Adventure is situated within the 135-hectare West Beach Parks tourism precinct and is well positioned as an adventure mega hub adjacent to a major skate and BMX park, as well as accommodation and golf facilities.
“This acquisition aligns directly with our growth strategy to expand our Treetops Adventure experiences across Australia. West Beach Adventure complements our 15 existing Treetops Adventure sites which offer multi-obstacle, high ropes and zipline courses,” said Experience Co, CEO, John O’Sullivan. “This purchase also represents an expansion to our portfolio of urban-based adventure parks, including Next Level on the Sunshine Coast.”
“West Beach Adventure is already one of South Australia’s most impressive adventure attractions, but we believe the site offers exceptional scope to extend the range of experiences and create a true adventure and entertainment mega-hub which further strengthens Adelaide’s appeal as a tourism and recreation destination for residents and visitors alike,” concluded O’Sullivan.
The Park currently includes multiple activities. A MegaClimb with over 70 aerial obstacles allows climbers to complete the course with a MegaJump from a height of 30m. A Giant Swing rises to 10m and launches guests into an arc at over 70km per hour. For younger visitors, a dedicated children’s adventure area offers ten courses with a mini zipline. There is also a Skywalk offering incredible views out to the city. West Beach Adventure is also home to a nationally recognised 30-metre observation tower that received an Excellence in Structural Engineering award and has become an iconic feature of the Adelaide skyline.
The Park caters to leisure visitors as well as schools, sporting clubs, community and corporate groups, making it one of the most diverse adventure destinations in the country. It also features a substantial grassed picnic and recreation area that provides significant capacity for future expansion, including additional adventure attractions and upgrades to guest facilities.
Owned and operated by Stephen Grundy and Bec Jarvis, West Beach Adventure has become one of South Australia’s most successful adventure attractions, welcoming more than 25,000 visitors annually.
Stephen will continue to be involved in the business helping the Treetops Adventure team to drive future growth, innovation and customer experience. He commented, “It was a difficult decision for us to sell West Beach Adventure, a business that has been our life for a decade. Once that decision was made, we couldn’t think of a better company to take on the legacy of Adelaide’s favourite Aerial Adventure facility. We can’t wait to see what exciting developments the team at Experience Co. will bring to the park. I’m sure whatever it is, it will become an even more exciting proposition for our South Australian customers.”
The park is operated by a team of 22 employees, all of whom will join the Treetops Adventure network under the leadership of newly appointed General Manager, Mark Heinrich.
This acquisition further diversifies Experience Co’s national adventure portfolio and enhances the company’s range of high-quality experiences which include half and full day tours on the Great Barrier Reef, Skydive Australia, NZOne, Skydive Wanaka and the Treetops Adventure portfolio.
