Tourism Whitsundays is proud to celebrate 122 local businesses recognised in the 2026 Best of Queensland Experiences Program (BOQEP), Tourism and Events Queensland’s nation-leading program designed to support the delivery and growth of high-quality tourism experiences across the state.
In the program’s first year of tiered recognition, 25 Whitsundays businesses achieved Gold status, 15 were awarded Silver and 82 were recognised at Teal level, a result that reflects the exceptional depth and quality of experiences on offer across the region.
To achieve recognition, businesses must meet a comprehensive set of criteria including consistently strong customer feedback, a high-quality online presence, secure booking capability, accreditation and active engagement with their local tourism organisation. This year’s program also introduced new criteria recognising sustainability credentials, reflecting the growing expectations of today’s travellers.
Businesses recognised at Gold, Silver or Teal level can display the official-coloured stamp in their marketing, helping visitors easily identify trusted, high-quality experiences when planning their Whitsundays getaway.
Tim Booth, CEO, Tourism Whitsundays, this result is a real testament to the operators across our region who show up every single day and deliver world-class experiences for our visitors.
“These results don’t happen by accident. Behind every recognition is a team of locals who are deeply passionate about this region and committed to making every visitor’s experience genuinely unforgettable.
“To see 25 of our businesses achieve Gold in the program’s first year of tiered recognition is outstanding and it’s only the beginning.”
Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Ry Collins said this recognition highlights the strength of the region’s tourism industry and the operators who continue to deliver exceptional visitor experiences.
“To have 122 businesses recognised, including 25 achieving Gold status, is something our entire region should be incredibly proud of.
“Our tourism industry is a cornerstone of the local economy, and this recognition reinforces the world-class quality, professionalism and unforgettable experiences visitors can expect when they choose the Whitsundays.”
