From 14-18 March LATAM Airlines hosted a prestigious Master LATAM Famil in Santiago, welcoming 13 VIP travel agents from Europe and Australia. The delegation was invited to experience the heart of the airline’s operations and the cultural highlights of its home city, under the global leadership of Thibaud Morand, general manager for Europe, Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific.

ATAM Airlines country manager for Oceania, Alberto Chico Garcia hosted key Australian partners Adam Gray, senior contract manager at Flight Centre Travel Group and Andrew Bell, head of flights at Webjet, further strengthening the airline’s ties with the major regional stakeholders.

The visit offered a behind-the-scenes look into the scale of South America’s leading airline’s operations. The group toured the maintenance hangar, where they gained firsthand insights into fleet management and the airline’s rigorous safety protocols. The itinerary also included a high-level briefing at the corporate headquarters, where agents met with members of the senior leadership team at LATAM, including chief commercial officer Ramiro Alfonsín.

Beyond the technical tours, the program showcased the outstanding hospitality and rugged beauty of the region, providing agents with a taste of South America. Some of the highlights included a private wine tasting experience at the number one winery in the world, VIK, along with curated visits to Santiago’s best restaurants.

Agents were also able to experience a trail ride to reach a vantage point on one of the city’s iconic cerros, where the journey concluded with a traditional Asado held at the summit, offering a spectacular celebration overlooking the Santiago skyline and the snow-capped Andes Mountains.

Chico Garcia said the famil represents the importance of strengthening ties between Australian and New Zealand travel agencies and the airline, to encourage holidaymakers to choose LATAM.

“This famil has been a fantastic opportunity to deepen our partnerships and showcase the strength of LATAM’s network. Australia and New Zealand remain key growth markets for us, and giving our partners firsthand insight into our operations and destination helps us jointly inspire more travellers to discover South America with LATAM.”

The famil was hailed as a resounding success in strengthening global partnerships, serving as a valuable introduction to South America for many of the visiting agents, at a time when travellers are prioritising reliable routes and trusted airlines. By blending executive networking with authentic cultural immersion, LATAM Airlines successfully demonstrated its commitment to its top-tier global partners and the distinctive appeal of its home destination.
