Travellers, airline crew and airport staff will soon have a new way to reset and recover, with Anytime Fitness, Australia’s largest fitness network, opening the nation’s first airport gym at Sydney Airport on Wednesday, 11 March. Bringing 24/7 training into Australia’s busiest transit hub, serving 40 million+ travellers annually and 30,000 airport staff, the new club raises the bar for fitness accessibility and convenience, giving members a dedicated space to move and recharge before and after their journey.
Located landside (before Arrival’s security screening) at T1 International, Anytime Fitness’s Sydney Airport club is designed to support members navigating long flights, early starts and demanding shifts. Whether it’s a quick pre‑flight or pre‑shift workout, or a post‑flight or post‑shift reset, the club provides a dedicated space for members to stretch, sweat and recover – helping to reduce stiffness, boost circulation, ease stress, lessen the effects of jet lag and improve sleep after long‑haul travel or demanding shifts.
To help members stay ‘Fit to Fly’ – comfortable, energised and physically prepared before, during and after their flights – Anytime Fitness has created three bespoke workouts developed by Anytime Fitness trainers and available via the Anytime Fitness Australia YouTube channel and at the Sydney Airport club.
- Pre-flight routine: six simple exercises designed to boost circulation and prepare the body for long periods of sitting without causing fatigue, including Goblet Squats and Romanian Deadlifts.
- Mid-Flight Menu: a selection of easy, seat-based movements targeting the neck, shoulders, spine, hips and legs, offering quick ways to help you stay comfortable, improve circulation and feel refreshed during your flight.
- Post-flight routine: six restorative exercises to improve mobility, activate key muscle groups and help reset the body after landing, including hip rotations, leg and dumbbell press.
“We developed the ‘Fit to Fly’ routines to be low-impact but still deliver the intensity needed to keep the body agile, energised and well-supported when travelling,” says Ben Richards, National Fitness and Member Experience Manager. “Travelling, especially long-haul flights, can lead to body stiffness and reduced mobility, so these three routines target the key muscle groups that support circulation and joint stability to support a more comfortable arrival.”

Sydney Airport’s new purpose-built, two‑level, 300‑square‑metre club features:
- 24/7 access for early departures, late arrivals and shift workers.
- Open functional training zones ideal for mobility and recovery.
- Premium Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment.
- Two lifting platforms.
- Premium showers and amenities designed for people on the go.
Simon Thompson, Anytime Fitness Australia Managing Director, said the opening of the Sydney Airport club reflected their commitment to making fitness accessible ‘anytime, anywhere’.
