Bangkok is preparing to ring in the New Year with its biggest celebration yet, as ICONSIAM, the city’s glittering riverside landmark, readies itself to host the “Amazing Thailand Countdown 2026”, a five-day festival designed to cement Thailand’s place among the world’s elite New Year’s Eve destinations.
From 27 to 31 December 2025, the banks of the Chao Phraya River will be transformed into a vast open-air entertainment arena, blending world-class music, cutting-edge technology and Thai cultural spectacle in what organisers promise will be a global-scale celebration of unforgettable proportions.
And in a flourish worthy of the international stage, the headline act for the New Year’s Eve finale will be global superstar Mark Tuan, joined by a veritable roll call of Thailand’s musical royalty.
ICONSIAM’s Managing Director, Mr Supoj Chaiwatsirikul, said the event is far more than a year-end party.
“Amazing Thailand Countdown 2026 is more than a festival; it is a global phenomenon celebrating Thailand’s culture, creativity and innovation,” Mr Supoj said.
“Through collaboration with government agencies and leading private-sector partners, we are presenting a united national showcase of Thailand’s brilliance to the world.”
Those partners include the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Trade of Thailand, along with significant corporate backers such as Charoen Pokphand Group and KASIKORNBANK.
The ambition is as commercial as it is cultural. Mr Supoj confirmed the event is expected to drive strong high-season tourism, boost riverside businesses and generate substantial economic returns across Bangkok’s hospitality and retail sectors.
Tourism Windfall Expected as Visitors Surge
The economic muscle behind the spectacle was underscored by Mr Natt Krutsut, Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business at the TAT, who described the celebration as one of Thailand’s most powerful global tourism assets.
“Amazing Thailand Countdown is a flagship event under the ‘Thailand: The Great Celebration Destination’ campaign,” Mr Natt said.
“Last year’s Countdown generated over THB 55 million and became a global phenomenon. This year, we are confident that Amazing Thailand Countdown 2026 will again attract tourists from around the world and deliver tangible economic benefits.”
The Tourism Authority estimates that at least 500,000 international visitors will enter Thailand during the New Year period, from 28 to 31 December 2025, based on previous-year benchmarks.
In a global tourism market still recalibrating after years of disruption, Bangkok’s ability to repeatedly draw half a million overseas visitors in a single holiday window is not just impressive, it is commercially decisive.
A 4D Sky Spectacle Unlike Anything Seen Before
The technical centrepiece of New Year’s Eve will be the ambitious 4D Sky Show titled “In Eternity Reverence”, staged across a 1,400-metre stretch of the Chao Phraya River.
Designed to honour Her Majesty The Queen Mother, the 20-minute performance will combine eco-friendly fireworks, intricate drone choreography and pyrotechnics by Crostars of China. Artistic direction will be provided by Okuchi Yoshimasa, Japan’s acclaimed eco-fireworks maestro.
The result promises not merely a fireworks display, but a choreographed aerial symphony designed as much for environmental responsibility as for sheer visual awe.
Mark Tuan and Thailand’s Musical Heavyweights Take the Stage
If the sky delivers the spectacle, the stage will bring the electricity.
The New Year’s Eve performance, branded “Where the Best of Thailand Meets the Best of the World”, will see Mark Tuan perform alongside Thailand’s top artists in a once-a-year global showcase.
Across the five-day festival, over 200 performers will transform ICONSIAM’s River Park into a pulsating riverfront dance floor. The line-up spans chart-toppers, stadium fillers and rising stars, including Bodyslam, Three Man Down, Slot Machine, Jeff Satur, Proxie, ATLAS, 4EVE, PiXXiE, URBOYTJ and many more, an embarrassment of musical riches by any measure.
As one seasoned Bangkok promoter quipped privately, “This isn’t a line-up it’s a music festival disguised as a New Year’s party.”
Retail, Rewards and Global Live Streams
Beyond the performances, visitors will enjoy five days of interactive entertainment, exclusive retail privileges, and special benefits for ONESIAM members, with access available via walk-ins, spending rewards, or online participation.
For those watching from abroad, the entire festival will be live-streamed on ICONSIAM’s Facebook and YouTube channels from 27–31 December 2025, starting at 6 pm local time.
