Vietjet Thailand marks a significant milestone in its business expansion with the delivery of its first Boeing 737-8 aircraft on 23 November 2025, the first of 50 aircraft scheduled to join its fleet by 2028. This new addition reinforces the airline’s long-term development plan, enhances operational capabilities, and contributes to the broader advancement of Thailand’s aviation ecosystem and economic growth.

As Vietjet Thailand continues to scale its domestic and international operations, the Boeing 737-8 forms a core foundation for the airline’s long-term business expansion. With a maximum range of 6,570 kilometers, the aircraft enables Vietjet Thailand to reach farther destinations and expand deeper into Asia, including new services to Tokyo and Osaka launching early next year. Both cities represent high-potential markets with healthy two-way travel demand and strategic growth opportunities.

Mr. Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of Vietjet Thailand, stated, “The delivery of our first Boeing 737-8 marks a significant milestone in elevating Vietjet Thailand’s competency towards becoming a leading low-cost carrier in the region. The aircraft will improve operational efficiency, extend direct flight range, and significantly reduce fuel consumption. The introduction of the Boeing 737-8 not only represents the first step of our fleet reinforcement but also a strategic investment to ensure long-term business resilience. Vietjet Thailand is committed to extending flight network to offer passengers greater travel choices, connecting Thailand with major Asia-Pacific destinations including upcoming new direct routes like Tokyo, Osaka (Japan), and Cam Ranh, Nha Trang (Vietnam), markets with high potential for both Thailand and the ASEAN region, while strengthening Thailand’s role as an aviation hub of ASEAN. Fleet modernization also forms a core part of our sustainable development plan, integrating advanced aeronautical technologies and innovative aviation solutions to minimize environmental impact, helping us grow alongside Thailand’s economy, tourism, and sustainability goals.”

Beyond operational enhancements, the Boeing 737-8 elevates the overall passenger experience with the Boeing Sky Interior, offering improved lighting, larger overhead bins, and a quieter, more spacious cabin environment. These upgrades align with Vietjet Thailand’s commitment to delivering better service quality while integrating modern aviation technologies across its operations.

In addition, the aircraft’s advanced aerodynamics, LEAP-1B engines, and full compatibility with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) support improved fuel efficiency, up to 15 to 20 percent lower carbon emissions, and up to 50 percent reduced noise levels.

To support the arrival of 50 new aircraft, Vietjet Thailand is planning a significant workforce expansion across flight operations, engineering, cabin crew, ground services, customer experience, and back-office functions. More than 5,000 new positions are expected to be created over the coming years, reflecting the airline’s commitment to developing local aviation talent and contributing to national employment growth.

The airline will operate its first commercial flight with the Boeing 737-8 on the domestic Bangkok–Chiang Mai route, followed with first international service at end of December 2025 or early January 2026. The progressive delivery of all 50 aircraft by 2028 will strengthen Vietjet Thailand’s capacity to meet rising travel demand, increase flight frequencies, and expand its network across the Asia-Pacific region.
