Eurail has today announced it will donate EUR€100,000 (AUD$178,000) to The Intrepid Foundation, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to championing responsible travel that creates positive impact and gives back. The announcement follows the European rail Pass provider’s June 2025 pledge to promote shoulder season travel as part of its efforts to help manage overtourism across Europe and encourage travellers to explore more mindfully.

Eurail has been supporting the work of The Intrepid Foundation since 2023 and has donated EUR€370,000 (AUD$661,000) to date. This in-turn has benefited organisations such as Cooperativa Coraggio, which promotes sustainable agriculture in Italy, and Amurtel, which supports disadvantaged women in Greece. Eurail’s donations have also helped save 450 tonnes of clothing, shoes, textiles, books and toys from landfill in Croatia via Humana Zagreb, while 7,202 expectant mothers have received pre-natal care, and 87,264 essential products have been provided to new mothers in Greece via Amurtel.

“Eurail believes the benefits of travel can go both ways, enriching both the traveller and the destinations they encounter” said Kavita Kooijman, Brand Strategist at Eurail. “Making meaningful connections and creating positive impact across Europe, whether that be through helping to manage overtourism or ensuring that disadvantaged communities within visitor destinations also benefit from tourism, is core to what Eurail stands for”, she continued.

“The Intrepid Foundation believes that travel can be a powerful force for good, and that we all have a part to play in protecting destinations for generations to come. Eurail’s longstanding partnership is a testament to this shared vision, driving meaningful and lasting impact in communities across Europe.” – Biheng Zhang, General Manager, The Intrepid Foundation. This announcement comes as Eurail launches its “Journeys That Make A Difference” 25% off sale. Running from Wednesday 26 November 2025 to Wednesday 17 December 2025, travellers can save 25% off all Eurail Global Passes and most Eurail One Country Passes (including Greek Island Ferry Passes). Not only can travellers book early to save, but they’ll also know that their purchase is helping to positively impact communities visited.

This three-week sale will see the most comprehensive Adult Eurail Global Pass (3 Months Continuous, 1st Class) drop from its usual AUD$2,197.00 to AUD$1,647.75 (saving AUD$549.25), while the cheapest Adult Eurail Global Pass (4 Days within 1 Month, 2nd Class) will drop from its usual AUD$512.00 to AUD$384.00 (saving AUD$128.00).

Purchasers of Eurail Passes have an 11-month window to activate their Pass for travel, from date of issue. Further discounts apply for Senior travellers (aged 60+) and Youth travellers (aged 12-27), while up to two Child travellers (aged 4-11) can travel for free.

Travel agents should speak to their preferred Eurail Pass distributor before Wednesday 17 December 2025 to take advantage of these savings for their clients.

As 2025 comes to a close, Eurail is also pleased to share its latest product news:

  • Expansion of the Child Pass rule: It is now possible to issue a Free Child Pass (for travellers aged 4-11) in combination with a Youth or Senior Pass, rather than just an Adult Pass. This change, which took effect 1 October 2025, reflects the changing nature of intergenerational travel, and provides greater options for family travellers. Children aged 0-3 also travel for free, when sharing a seat with their carer.
  • iryo joins the Eurail Pass network: High-speed Spanish railway carrier iryo, joined the Eurail Pass network on 1 October 2025, making it even easier for travellers to traverse Spain. From Barcelona in the north-east to Madrid, and beyond to Seville and Malaga in the south, or Valencia and Alicante in the east, visitors to the Iberian Peninsula now have even greater options to choose from.
  • Portugal’s Baira de Alta line reopens: Following three years of reconstruction work, the Baira de Alta line in Portugal reopened last month. The line, which links Lisbon and Porto with Vilar Formoso on the Spanish border, will enable greater cross-border travel opportunities for travellers.
  • Belgrade to Subotica line reopens: The high-speed line from Belgrade to Subotica reopened on 8 October 2025, shortening the journey from 6-7 hours to 1 hour 40 minutes. The extension of this high-speed line, continuing from Subotica to Budapest, is expected to reopen ahead of the 2026 European summer.
