The leaderboard for WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025 is shaping up nicely as more players punch their tickets to the grand finale of the 2025 WTT Series.
With just one event left in the WTT Series to qualify, WTT Star Contender Muscat 2025, 13 of 16 have qualified for the Men’s Singles, while only one spot remains in the Women’s Singles. Following a strong campaign, and finishing as runner-up at WTT Star Contender London three weeks ago, Hong Kong, China table tennis stars Doo Hoi Kem and Wong Chun Ting booked the fourth spot for the Mixed Doubles event. Indian duo Manush Shah and Diyah Chitale joined the lineup, with two more qualifying pairs and a Wildcard spot remaining to be filled.
The Men’s Singles event will feature the biggest names in table tennis including Wang Chuqin, Lin Shidong, Tomokazu Harimoto, Hugo Calderano, Felix Lebrun, Truls Moregard and Xiang Peng. Six more spots have been punched in, following three events in Europe – WTT Star Contender London, WTT Champions Montpellier, and WTT Champions Frankfurt – with Sora Matsushima, Dang Qiu, Benedikt Duda, Liang Jingkun, Lin Yun-Ju, and Anders Lind, all confirming their places, and leaving only three remaining spots to fill after Muscat.
Currently ranked World No.12, German player Dang Qiu, qualifies after bagging the Men’s Singles title at WTT Star Contender London, reaching the quarterfinals in Montpellier, and finishing as runner-up in Frankfurt.
Speaking on his qualification, the 29-year-old Qiu said: “Qualifying for WTT Finals for the fourth consecutive year means a lot. London was a big step, and making it deep in Montpellier and Frankfurt proved the form is real. Now it’s about staying sharp for Hong Kong and giving myself a chance to do something special. I’m grateful to my team and everyone who’s been behind me.”
Five more names were punched in to the Women’s Singles roster – including Hina Hayata, Shi Xunyao, Shin Yubin, Mima Ito, and Miyu Nagasaki – with only one spot remaining to contest. Among the latest to qualify, Shin Yubin, has led a strong campaign in Montpellier and Frankfurt, with a semifinal finish at both events.
The 21-year-old Korean star, currently ranked at World No.12, said: “Qualifying for WTT Finals Hong Kong feels special. I want to stay focused on my growth, so that I can perform the best under pressure. I’m excited to meet the fans in Hong Kong, feel the atmosphere, and explore the city a little. And I’ll do everything I can to play my best there.”
Taking place from 10-14 December at the Hong Kong Coliseum, this is the first time Hong Kong is hosting the season-ending WTT Finals. The top 16 Men’s and Women’s Singles players, as well as the top seven Mixed Doubles and one Wildcard pairing, will compete for the biggest prize in table tennis.
