TUMI, the leading international travel, lifestyle and accessories brand, celebrates the grand opening of its first flagship location in China, situated in Shanghai. This milestone reflects TUMI’s continued investment in the region, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to serving the global citizen with immersive, elevated retail experiences tailored to today’s traveler.

The new flagship store is located in the iconic Shanghai Centre on Nanjing West Road, the crown jewel of Shanghai’s luxury shopping districts. The flagship’s design seamlessly blends TUMI’s signature minimalist luxury with modern architectural aesthetics, creating an elevated environment rooted in the brand’s commitment to purposeful, performance-driven design. From the sculptural façade to the curved LED screen features and evocative Journey art installation, each element reflects a thoughtful approach to design and a deep connection to the dynamic culture of travel.

“TUMI has always been about creating products that serve a purpose—design that adapts to the way people live, move, and travel,” said Creative Director Victor Sanz. “This flagship is more than just a store; it’s a space where people can really feel the intention behind what we do. Every detail reflects our belief that great design isn’t just about how something looks—it’s about how it works in the real world and how it supports people on their journeys.”TUMI

Approaching the Shanghai flagship, visitors are greeted by a striking new façade evoking the fluid movement of travel. The illuminated TUMI logo is set against a backdrop of metallic panels cascading in elegant, sculptural contours—an architectural homage to TUMI’s iconic 19 Degree design motif. Instantly recognizable, the 19 Degree lines transcend luggage, embodying the brand’s design philosophy of movement, strength, and modernity.

Welcoming clients inside, the space is defined by marble accents and modern aesthetics that together evoke a sense of effortless elegance in motion. Refined metal and stone textures and calming neutral tones throughout the interior create a luxurious ambiance for clients to explore TUMI’s breadth of collections.

Unique to the Shanghai flagship, the store features a dedicated art installation space that bridges the brand’s design philosophy and local artisan culture. The debut work, titled

Journey, was created by renowned contemporary artist Xu Fei. Rooted in a deep respect for material integrity and purposeful craftsmanship, he explores the intersection of movement, intention, and form. Constructed from natural bamboo, Journey draws on the ancient Chinese cosmological concept of ‘round heaven and square earth’—a balance of fluidity and grounding that echoes the brand’s approach to design. The installation embodies the brand’s belief that travel is not just about where you’re going, but how you move through the world—with clarity, resilience, and meaning.

“Movement and discovery, to me, is where every journey begins,” said Victor Sanz. “It’s about feeling ready to move, open to the unknown, and grounded in who you are. This installation captures that idea in a really honest way. It’s a quiet reminder of how we carry ourselves through the world.”TUMI

In addition, the flagship store adopts a scenario-based display solution, showcasing the full range of TUMI men’s, women’s and travel accessories through clear display arrangement and thoughtful space design, creating a simple yet advanced visual experience, highlighting the brand’s wide range of styles, quality and performance.

The store features a uniquely designed open-concept VIP space, an embodiment of refined luxury and elevated travel aesthetics. Here, a meticulously curated presentation of TUMI’s premium travel and luggage offerings is presented. This space also features

TUMI’s interactive materials wall, where clients may engage up close with cutting-edge design materials and experience the brand’s innovations in material technology firsthand.
