In an industry that spends billions crafting luxury experiences but still distributes imagery like it’s 1999, enter PIXI: a shiny new AI-powered platform that’s putting the “visual” back in “visibly marketable.”
Launched with much-needed chutzpah and a dose of common sense, PIXI is a content-sharing and storytelling platform purpose-built for the global travel trade. Not just another cloud dump or half-baked CMS, it’s the brainchild of industry insiders who were frankly fed up watching hoteliers squirrel away their most photogenic assets behind password-protected portals last updated during the Obama administration.
“It’s like designing a haute couture dress, then shoving it in the broom cupboard,” says Emma Squire, CEO and Co-Founder of Pixigroup.ai, who doesn’t pull punches. “PIXI is the catwalk—finally a way for hotels, resorts and DMCs to strut their stuff in front of the global trade.”
And what a strut it is. Luxury travel’s heavyweights are already using PIXI—think Six Senses, Select Collection and others who’d prefer not to name-drop but are thrilled someone finally fixed this mess.
Visual Content, Finally Ready for Its Close-Up
Squire and her team—including Co-Founder and CCO Alan Ball and CPTO Gary Mudie—have built what they’re calling the “visual command centre for luxury travel.” It combines Dropbox’s no-fuss usability with Pinterest’s inspiration-board charm, then turbocharges it with AI that knows its Amalfi from its Zanzibar.
“Think Dropbox and Pinterest for luxury travel, but smarter, safer and actually built for the trade,” says Ball. “Hotels, resorts and suppliers can now be discovered through their content—instantly. It’s brand-safe, on-brand, and ready to convert.”
For those of us who’ve suffered through cringeworthy media galleries, broken Dropbox links or those “here’s the WeTransfer link—download in 3 hours or lose it forever” nightmares, PIXI is a godsend. It makes clunky asset folders and outdated media centres feel like trying to run a travel agency off a fax machine.
And for a trade that’s increasingly under pressure from the visual storytelling power of OTAs and influencers, PIXI is timely. Very timely.
Timing Is Everything
Let’s be honest: the trade has been fighting an uphill battle armed with a stick while influencers brandish rocket launchers. OTAs pour millions into AI and visual-first UX; TikTokkers are seducing entire generations with dreamy drone shots and “hot takes” from Santorini; and yet the average travel advisor is still rummaging through password portals like a hamster in a shoebox.
According to Google, 85% of Millennials and Gen Z travellers say they’ve booked a trip based on video content. Meanwhile, Expedia tells us that visuals sway 73% of all travellers. But the kicker? 80% of luxury travellers still prefer booking through a human advisor (Virtuoso). And those advisors desperately need the tools to keep up.
That’s where PIXI enters stage left, silk cape fluttering.
The Trade Finally Has Its Weapon
With its AI-powered tagging, secure asset management and seamless sharing workflows, PIXI isn’t just smart. It’s practical. Efficient. Dare we say—elegant.
Says CPTO Gary Mudie, “PIXI functions as a vertical SaaS platform and a visual command centre. OTAs and influencers are fast—now, so is the trade. And with full control.”
In other words, travel sellers can finally move at the speed of their customers, while staying on brand, secure, and (thank heavens) looking good doing it.
Industry Voices Chime In
Marteyne Van Well, Regional GM of Six Senses Laamu and Kanuhura in the Maldives, had this to say:
“Before PIXI, it was a scramble every time an advisor asked for a video or image set. Now it’s all there—beautifully curated, branded, and safe. It’s changed the way we support our travel partners.”
And from Neil Bedford, COO of luxury travel firm Select Collection:
“It’s intuitive, beautifully designed, and saves our team hours each week. It’s reshaped how we collaborate with our hotel partners.”
Praise indeed—from folks who’ve seen every platform under the sun.
So Why Hasn’t This Been Done Before?
Blame it on legacy systems, risk-averse chains, or the belief that great content is best guarded like gold bullion. Whatever the reason, PIXI has waltzed into the room, cracked open the safe, and invited the travel trade in for a browse.
And the best part? It’s not just about pretty pictures—it’s about power. About making the travel trade competitive again. About giving travel advisors the digital ammunition they need to win.
Because let’s face it, the old way wasn’t cutting it anymore.
The Final Word
As the independent contractor (IC) model booms and hosted sellers multiply, the need for sleek, immediate, professional content is more urgent than ever. Travel agents aren’t just competing with each other—they’re going up against entire influencer economies and VC-backed online juggernauts.
But with PIXI in their toolkit, they’ve got a fighting chance—and a beautiful one at that.
So here’s to PIXI: the catwalk the travel industry didn’t know it needed… until now.
