The skies just got a little more strategic.
In a move that would make any seasoned flyer sit up and adjust their seatbelt, the oneworld® alliance has today unveiled a triple appointment coup, roping in some of the most formidable minds in global aviation, communications, and digital transformation. The alliance, known for stitching together some of the world’s most prominent airlines, is not content to cruise at 30,000 feet. It’s aiming for a whole new altitude.
✈️ 25 Years Strong—Now for the Next Ascent
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, oneworld is putting wind beneath its wings with three key executive hires, each bringing decades of experience and a logbook full of accomplishments. It’s a leadership refresh that doesn’t just polish the brass; it retools the cockpit for the next quarter-century of innovation, reach and relevance.
Leading the charge is Stephan Nagel, stepping into the role of Vice President – Global Partnerships. And let’s be clear—Nagel isn’t some clipboard-wielding corporate passenger. He’s a seasoned aviation strategist with more than 25 years under his belt, having flown through the ranks of Qatar Airways, Air Berlin, Star Alliance and Lufthansa.
From nurturing global alliances to orchestrating strategic partnerships that extend across continents, Nagel has done it all—often before breakfast. He’s not new to the oneworld orbit either, having spent a decade on its management board. With a reputation for being both sharp-witted and deeply diplomatic (a rare airline combo), he’ll be tasked with steering collaborations not just between member airlines, but also with technology giants and loyalty partners.
📰 The Voice Behind the Wings
Next into the fold is Chris Kelly Singley, now serving as Vice President – Communications and Marketing. Singley brings more than 20 years of frontline experience across aviation and aerospace, having held influential roles at Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Boeing and most recently JetZero.
She’s the sort of communications heavyweight who knows how to control turbulence—whether it’s managing a media storm, launching a global brand refresh, or driving employee engagement from the tarmac up. At oneworld, Singley will be the voice behind the alliance’s story, ensuring its messages not only land smoothly but resonate worldwide.
Expect crisper narratives, louder loyalty campaigns and perhaps, fewer buzzwords and more impact.
💻 Digital Transformation—No More Layovers
And bringing some serious digital tailwind to the team is Guido van Til, appointed Vice President – Digital. A transformation maven with over 25 years of experience across aviation and high-end retail, van Til has previously engineered sweeping digital overhauls at Air France-KLM and later applied his digital expertise to global retail titans like Dyson and Rituals.
He’s not just here to patch the app or tweak a login screen. Van Til is tasked with building a fully integrated digital experience across the alliance, where customer journeys are seamless, platforms converge smoothly, and users, whether frequent flyers or not, don’t need a PhD to manage their itinerary.
In an era where customers expect their travel experience to be as intuitive as their Spotify playlist, oneworld is banking on van Til to make loyalty as smooth as a flat-bed seat in business class.
💬 “Exceptional Quality and Service”
In his statement, Nat Pieper, the newly appointed CEO of oneworld, praised the trio as “proven leaders with outstanding credentials and deep expertise across their respective fields.”
“Each brings unique strengths to the alliance that will help shape the next chapter of growth and innovation for oneworld,” Pieper added. “I’m delighted to welcome them to the team as we continue building on our 25-year legacy to deliver exceptional quality and service to our customers and partners around the world.”
📈 A Take-Off, Not Just a Tweak
This isn’t a symbolic reshuffle or a business-as-usual update. It’s a realignment with purpose. With airlines still shaking off the jetlag of the pandemic years and customer expectations evolving faster than you can say “in-flight Wi-Fi,” oneworld’s strategic injection of talent positions it as not just a coalition of carriers, but a forward-leaning, tech-enabled, customer-savvy powerhouse.
The appointments of Nagel, Singley, and van Til send a clear signal: the alliance is gearing up not just to compete, but to lead.
It’s a recalibration rooted in expertise, propelled by innovation, and—if this trio lives up to their mile-high résumés—destined for impressive cruising speed.
Now boarding: The next era of oneworld.
