OurAfrica.Travel - logoThe countdown to OurAfrica.Travel 2025 has officially begun, and with it comes an exciting new chapter for the event—the launch of the Story Series. Set to run from February 11 to 14, 2025, this innovative series is already generating buzz in the tourism industry, offering a fresh platform to celebrate the visionaries and changemakers who are transforming African travel.

Following the main event from February 17 to 21, 2025, buyers and exhibitors are eagerly pre-scheduling meetings. Still, the Story Series is set to steal the spotlight, providing deeper insights into the personal journeys and groundbreaking projects shaping the industry.

Colin Bell Leads an Inspirational Line-Up

Heading the Story Series is Colin Bell, an African tourism and conservation pioneer. Starting as a safari guide in Botswana in the 1970s, Bell’s career has spanned decades of exploration and advocacy. His hands-on experiences witnessing Africa’s natural wonders and conservation crises led him to co-found leading organizations such as Wilderness Safaris, Great Plains Conservation, and Natural Selection Safaris.

“What began as a simple idea to highlight impactful trade suppliers quickly grew into something much bigger,” said Allie Hunt, Co-Founder of OurAfrica.Travel. “One conversation with Colin, and suddenly we had a dynamic Story Series, complete with a line-up of ten inspiring individuals.”

Spotlight on Tourism Heroes

The Story Series will showcase in-depth conversations with diverse leaders and innovators who are making waves in African tourism. The impressive roster includes:

  • Dave Wilson
  • Dr. Andrew Baxter
  • Dr. Ross Harvey
  • Craig Spencer

  • Rod Cassidy
  • Simon Byron
  • Jackson Lusiya

These trailblazers will share their unique perspectives on critical issues, from conservation challenges to the future of sustainable tourism. Their stories promise to inspire, educate, and ignite meaningful discussions among industry peers.

Harnessing Technology for Tourism’s Future

In addition to celebrating traditional tourism achievements, the Story Series will delve into the transformative role of technology in the industry. Attendees can participate in live webinars that explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital tools to enhance travel experiences and sustainability efforts.

Featured speakers include:

  • David Ryan, CEO & Founder of Rhino Africa, discusses the revolutionary potential of AI in streamlining tourism operations.
  • Natalia Rosa, Founder of Big Ambitions, offers insights on using digital platforms to amplify sustainability initiatives.
  • Sammy Kelly, Head of Product Development at The Travel Hub Collection, leading daily webinars on product innovation and evolving market trends.

These sessions aim to empower participants with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the rapidly changing landscape of global tourism.
