ITA Airways - LogoIn a groundbreaking move that strengthens ties between Thailand and Italy, ITA Airways has launched its first-ever nonstop service between Bangkok and Rome Fiumicino Airport. Operated with the state-of-the-art Airbus A330neo, the service underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its intercontinental network and showcasing its “Made in Italy” ethos to a global audience.

The inaugural flight, AZ 758, touched down at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) at 8:25 a.m. local time on November 17, 2024. This historic moment marks ITA Airways’ official debut in the Thai market, offering five weekly frequencies on this route.

The first flight from Bangkok to Rome, AZ 759, departed on the same day at 12:15 p.m. local time. These flights will provide seamless connections between two iconic capitals, catering to both leisure and business travellers.

Celebrating a Milestone in Aviation

A grand ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Suvarnabhumi Airport to commemorate the launch. Key dignitaries included Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways and CEO of Volare, Pierfrancesco Carino, Vice President of International Sales at ITA Airways, and Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, Deputy Governor for International Marketing at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

Also present were H.E. Paolo Dionisi, Italy’s Ambassador to Thailand, and senior executives from Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited, reflecting the collaborative spirit driving this venture.

“This launch signifies more than just a new route,” remarked Emiliana Limosani. “It represents a strategic milestone for ITA Airways, strengthening our intercontinental network while enhancing our focus on Thailand as a vital market for both tourism and business travel. Our new Bangkok-Rome connection showcases our dedication to creating exceptional travel opportunities for our customers.”
