Held from November 5 to 7, 2024, at ExCeL London, the 44th edition of this premier global travel event marked a significant milestone with an 11% increase in pre-qualified buyers, underscoring its unmatched influence in shaping the future of tourism.

The event welcomed 5,049 world-class buyers, a sharp rise from the 4,560 attendees in 2023. Overall attendance soared to 46,316 individuals, reflecting a 6% increase, as travel professionals from diverse sectors participated in this three-day celebration of innovation, collaboration, and transformation.

Expansion Fuels Unprecedented Growth

To accommodate the growing influx of attendees, the event expanded its footprint by nearly 8%, utilizing ExCeL London’s Level-0 space. This addition housed cutting-edge conference stages and hospitality areas, creating a dynamic networking and knowledge exchange environment.

Adding to the excitement, exhibitor participation reached a record-breaking 4,047, marking an 8% increase compared to the previous year. These exhibitors, from tourism boards to technology pioneers, represented a robust mix of sectors, reaffirming WTM London’s status as the epicentre of global tourism innovation.

Record-Breaking Business Opportunities

A staggering 34,082 pre-scheduled meetings were facilitated during the event, a phenomenal 17% increase from last year’s 29,075. This underscores WTM London’s pivotal role in connecting decision-makers and fostering meaningful collaborations that drive industry growth.

Shaping the Future of Travel

This year’s theme, “Travelpower,” resonated throughout the event, encouraging attendees to harness their platforms for positive change. The conference program, featuring over 200 esteemed speakers across 70 sessions, delved into pressing topics such as Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI), Sustainability, Travel Trends, Technology, and Geo-Economics.

Prominent figures from tourism boards, hospitality giants, and emerging tech brands shared actionable insights on transforming challenges into opportunities, emphasizing a unified approach to progress.

WTM London 2024 saw over 80 debut exhibitors, including prominent names like KOS Island, Nimax Theatres, Latvia Travel, Riyadh Air, Grand Prix Grand Tours, Barclaycard Payments, and Regnum Hotels. The Ministers’ Summit: Charting a Tech-Driven Future

A key highlight was the 18th annual Ministers’ Summit, co-hosted with the UN Tourism and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). Featuring over 50 influential political figures, discussions centred on harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) for the betterment of global tourism. Leaders explored how emerging technologies could redefine travel experiences while stressing the need for proactive industry input in shaping regulatory frameworks.

On day one of the event, the much-anticipated WTM Global Travel Report 2024, developed in partnership with Tourism Economics, was unveiled. This comprehensive analysis projected international tourist arrivals to reach a historic 1.5 billion in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. By 2030, this figure is expected to grow by over 30% to 2 billion, painting an optimistic picture of global tourism’s trajectory.
