Tuesday, 23rd of July is National Agave Day and to celebrate, the all-Australian Margarita will make its debut on Australia’s most iconic private island with a beachside pop- up bar, and tastings across the week.
Crafted with Australia’s own agave spirit, locally distilled on the very farm where the plants are nurtured in Queensland’s Whitsunday region, this bespoke cocktail embodies the essence of the unique terroir and agronomy.
While 100 agave plants on Hayman Island mature to produce the island’s very own bespoke agave spirit, guests can indulge in the exquisite
flavours of ‘Act of Treason’ agave spirits across Hayman’s restaurants and bars.
Years in the making, Act of Treason captures the essence of Australian craftsmanship and ingenuity, with a distillery powered by renewable
energy and a dedication to sustainability. Nestled between Airlie Beach and Bowen, the farm and distillery boast over 600,000 Agave tequilana plants, creating a distinctly Australian landscape flanked by native eucalypts and shared with indigenous wildlife.
Arpad Romandy, General Manager of InterContinental Hayman Island Resort, expressed excitement about the partnership with Top Shelf International, stating, “Hayman Island’s ideal topography and conditions for growing agave plants make this partnership a natural fit. With the launch of Act of Treason, we’re thrilled to celebrate with an on-island activation, introducing Hayman Island’s very own version of the All-Australian Margarita.”
The All-Australian Margarita tantalizes the senses with its harmonious blend of tangy citrus and subtle earthy notes, served over ice with a
salted rim or adorned with locally sourced Queensland fruit. It’s a cocktail that truly encapsulates the spirit of the region, positioned 20
degrees south of the equator.
Act of Treason offers a taste of Queensland’s artisanal spirit-making tradition, combining craftsmanship with local ingredients to deliver a
premium agave spirit experience unlike any other.
