Seeing a place is one thing. Discovering what makes it extraordinary takes a little more curiosity.  Tailor-made travel specialist Adventure World has identified five ways to experience more of the world in 2027. Drawing on insights from its Destination Specialists, More to the Story looks at the seasons, people, wildlife and routes that give a journey greater depth.

“An iconic sight can be the reason you choose a destination, but it rarely tells the whole story”, said Elizabeth Glover, Head of Marketing, Adventure World. “The most rewarding journeys leave room to discover what surrounds it: the landscapes along the way, the people who call a place home and the moments you might never have thought to look for. That’s what we mean by travelling more mindfully.”

  1. Africa: Experience safari in a different season

A safari offers far more than a single wildlife sighting. In Southern Africa’s green season, November to April, lush landscapes, dramatic skies and abundant birdlife bring a different dimension to the experience. Adventure World’s Victoria Falls & Chobe journey combines game drives and river safaris in Chobe National Park with time at Victoria Falls. Seeing the region from both land and water reveals more of its wildlife and changing landscapes.

  1. North America: See the landscape through Indigenous

A landscape holds more than scenery. Learning from First Nations hosts offers travellers a deeper understanding of the histories, living cultures and relationships with the land that shape a place. Adventure World’s Spirit Bears & First Nations Culture takes travellers into British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest, staying at Spirit Bear Lodge, owned and operated by the Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation. Guided wildlife excursions offer opportunities to search for grizzlies and rare Spirit bears, while time with local guides and a Long House cultural experience introduce the community’s history, traditions and connection to the rainforest.

  1. South America: Follow the story beyond the icons

The Galápagos may inspire a journey to Ecuador, but mainland Ecuador has its own stories to tell. Its Amazon rainforest, Andean landscapes and local communities invite opportunities to explore the country’s nature and cultures in greater depth. Adventure World’s Cruising the Ecuadorian Amazon takes travellers into Yasuní National Park, where encounters with wildlife sit alongside an introduction to the traditions of local Kichwa communities.

  1. India: Understand the wildlife you came to see

The chance to encounter a snow leopard or tiger is extraordinary. Learning about an animal’s habitat, behaviour and place in the wider ecosystem can make that encounter even more meaningful.  Snow Leopards of Ladakh centres on expert tracking in the Himalayan region, while Wildlife of North India explores landscapes home to tigers, elephants and gharials. Expert guides help travellers understand the wider natural world behind each sighting.

  1. Winter destinations: Discover what the season makes possible

In some places, winter is central to the experience. Snow changes how travellers move through Yellowstone and observe its wildlife. In northern Finland, the Arctic landscape provides a setting for learning about Sámi culture. Adventure World’s Wolves & Geysers: Winter in Yellowstone includes wildlife safaris in the Lamar Valley and snow coach exploration. Sámi Culture & Northern Lights offers an introduction to Sámi history, local ways of life and the winter landscapes of northern Finland.

“Travelling with more purpose doesn’t mean giving up the places you’ve always wanted to see,” Glover said. “It means giving yourself the chance to understand them more fully.”

Adventure World creates tailor-made journeys across Africa, Asia, India, Latin America, North America, the Nordic region and polar destinations.
