Tourism and Events Moreton Bay is encouraging fans to secure their seats and start planning their stay, with tickets for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027 going on sale today at 1pm AEST. The region will host the world’s best softball nations at Kayo Stadium from 5 to 10 April 2027.
The Italian-crafted, 24K gold-plated trophy was unveiled at Kayo Stadium earlier this week, marking its return to Australia for the first time in more than 60 years.
Eight nations will compete for the world title, including reigning Olympic champions Japan, 12-time winners USA and Australia’s own Aussie Spirit. The tournament is the first qualifying event for the LA28 Olympic Games and Queensland’s first major international team event on the green and gold runway to Brisbane 2032.
Tourism and Events Moreton Bay CEO Luke Edwards said the World Cup Finals would bring athletes, officials, media and fans from across the globe to the region, delivering a significant boost for local tourism operators and businesses.
“Bringing a World Cup to Moreton Bay is a major moment for our region, and we can’t wait to welcome the players, their teams and their supporters next April,” Edwards said.

“Major events like this are one of the most powerful drivers of visitation. Every athlete, official and fan who travels here fills hotel rooms, dines in our restaurants and cafes, and experiences what Moreton Bay has to offer beyond the stadium.
“Our job is to make sure they don’t just come for softball. We want visitors to explore our coastline, our islands and our hinterland, to stay longer, and to leave as advocates for the region who return with family and friends.”
With more than $3.65 million expected to flow into the Queensland economy, Edwards said the tournament was a timely opportunity for local operators.
“We’ll be working closely with City of Moreton Bay, Softball Australia and our tourism industry to make sure operators are ready to capitalise on the visitors this event will bring, from accommodation and hospitality through to tours and experiences,” Edwards said.
“With Kayo Stadium just minutes from Brisbane Airport, international teams and fans will have easy access to everything our region offers, and that accessibility is a key part of our story as we build towards Brisbane 2032.
“Hosting the first major international team event on the road to 2032 sends a clear message that Moreton Bay is ready to deliver on the world stage. Events like this put our region in front of new international audiences, and the legacy of that exposure will be felt well beyond the final pitch.”
The tournament will see Kayo Stadium transformed from an NRL venue into a purpose-built international softball diamond, with the Aussie Spirit taking on Japan, USA, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Mexico, Puerto Rico and China.
