The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) is inviting Guam’s middle and high schools to register their students for the 2026 Guam Micronesia Island Fair (GMIF) Youth Fair, taking place Friday, October 23, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park (Ypao Beach).
Held as part of the 38th Guam Micronesia Island Fair, the Youth Fair is designed to give students an opportunity to experience the cultures, traditions, creativity and people of Micronesia in an engaging setting.
With this year’s theme, “The Tides and Traditions of Micronesia,” the Youth Fair will bring the spirit of GMIF directly to Guam’s students through hands-on cultural experiences, student performances, demonstrations and interactive activities. Students will have opportunities to try traditional activities such as talaya throwing and learn about canoe carving, while exploring cultural information booths and a gamified experience featuring a punch card and prizes.
“GMIF is an opportunity for students to step outside the classroom and experience culture all around them,” said Frank Arriola, GVB Acting President & CEO. “The Youth Fair is an invitation to our schools to bring their students to Ypao, spend the day learning and exploring, and connect with the traditions and stories that are part of our shared region.”
While the Guam Micronesia Island Fair is a public event open to everyone, GVB is especially encouraging Guam’s middle and high schools, teachers, administrators and student groups to register in advance for the Youth Fair. Early registration will help participating schools and student groups plan their visit and take part in the day’s activities.
The Youth Fair will take place on the opening day of the 38th Guam Micronesia Island Fair, which runs October 23 – 25 at Ypao Beach. The larger fair will feature cultural presentations, traditional and contemporary entertainment, food, crafts, demonstrations and other activities highlighting Guam and its neighboring Micronesian islands.
