As part of the Career Days at Zurich Airport, SWISS is offering insights into the wide range of careers it has to offer. Sitting in a cockpit, experiencing an aircraft up close or working on an engine: the world of aviation holds a special fascination for many people. Anyone who can imagine turning this fascination into a career will have the opportunity in early November to discover just how diverse the professional world of an airline can be.

During the Career Days (Berufstage) at Zurich Airport from 2 to 8 November, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), together with Zurich Airport Ltd., invites visitors to discover the world of aviation. At information events and guided tours, visitors can meet employees from various areas, ask questions and learn more about training, entry-level and career opportunities. The program is aimed both at school students considering their future career options and at experienced professionals looking for a new direction or interested in getting to know SWISS and other companies at Zurich Airport as potential employers.

Anyone who initially associates an airline primarily with the cockpit and cabin is seeing only part of its professional world. Technicians look after the aircraft, specialists coordinate daily flight operations, and numerous other employees help ensure that SWISS can transport its guests safely and reliably to their destinations.

Experience aviation instead of just dreaming about it

A special program on Saturday, 7 November, is aimed at young people aged 13 to 17. At the SWISS Experience Day, they will learn about careers as automation technicians, polymechanics, pilots and cabin crew members, while also getting the chance to experience aviation first-hand. Participants will see an aircraft up close in the hangar and visit the Operations Center. Along the way, they will discover the wide variety of roles involved in running an airline and meet some of the people behind them.

After all, dreaming of the wider world does not necessarily mean sitting in an aircraft cockpit yourself: aviation offers many different ways to help others take to the skies.
