Spread the love

Australian and New Zealand travel advisors looking to sharpen their Canada-selling credentials can head for the mountains without leaving their desks when the Canada Specialist Program turns its attention to British Columbia on Wednesday, 30 September.

The latest trade webinar will showcase two different but highly complementary ways to experience one of Canada’s most spectacular provinces: British Columbia’s Rainforest to Rockies journey and CMH Heli-Hiking.

And while one follows the road west-to-east through a constantly changing landscape, the other takes the more direct route: straight up in a helicopter.

Presented by Joanne Motta, Rainforest to Rockies traces an extraordinary journey from Vancouver on the Pacific Coast towards the Canadian Rockies. Destination BC describes it as an iconic Canadian journey through coastal rainforest, alpine country, glacier-fed rivers, grasslands and dry interior valleys.

For travel advisors, that variety is particularly useful. Rather than selling British Columbia as one single experience, agents can build itineraries around scenic drives, communities, outdoor pursuits, culture and regional food, extending both the journey and the client’s time in the destination.

The route also places considerable emphasis on the people who give British Columbia its character, including Indigenous Nations with longstanding connections to the land, alongside local artists, entrepreneurs and communities throughout the province.

When hiking gets a helicopter

Then comes Steve Pampel with a rather more airborne approach to sightseeing.

CMH Heli-Hiking transports guests by helicopter into remote alpine terrain, providing access to ridgelines, glaciers and mountain meadows that would otherwise require considerably more boot leather and probably a packed lunch or three.

Guests hike with professional guides, with itineraries designed to accommodate different abilities and preferred walking speeds. The current CMH summer program operates from three remote British Columbia lodges: Bugaboos, Bobbie Burns and Cariboos.

The wilderness may be rugged, but the accommodation certainly is not.

CMH combines adventure with comfortable lodge stays, chef-prepared food, hospitality, and wellness facilities — meaning travellers can spend the day among glaciers and mountain peaks before returning to more civilised surroundings.

That combination gives advisors another premium Canadian product for clients who want genuine adventure without necessarily surrendering every creature comfort in the process.

Two sessions for the travel trade

The 2026 Canada Specialist Program Webinar Series, brought to the Australian travel trade by Destination Canada, provides agents with direct updates from Canadian destinations and tourism experiences.

The British Columbia and CMH Heli-Hiking webinar will be offered in two live sessions on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, at 8.30 am and 12 pm AEST.

Each session features a 30-minute destination and product update followed by live Q&A, giving advisors the opportunity to hear directly from the presenters and ask the practical questions that can make the difference between simply knowing a destination and confidently selling it.

The session is open to the Australian and New Zealand travel trade.

And for agents unable to attend live, the organisers advise registering anyway to receive the recording and follow-up information.

For advisors selling Canada, it is half an hour well spent. British Columbia already has the scenery; this webinar may simply provide a few more ways to turn that scenery into bookings.

At UNSW, she studied Arts, then found her footing in graphic design before drifting, quite naturally, into the digital side of things, building websites and shaping words that made people want to stay.
Singapore followed, and with it, the fast pace of tourism platforms and ITB Asia. Long before SEO became a buzzword, Octavia understood how stories travelled online. That’s where she met Stephen, and the seed for something more was planted.
