Set within the Vaavu Atoll, one of the Maldives’ most secluded and untouched regions, Aman’s first destination in the archipelago will be known as Amanolu. Combining Aman, the Sanskrit word for peace, with Olu, inspired by the water lily, Amanolu reflects a symbol long associated with serenity, renewal and a connection to nature. Found throughout the Indian Ocean region, the water lily rises gracefully from still waters, serving as a fitting expression of the destination’s tranquil island setting and Aman’s enduring ethos of peace, privacy and harmony with the natural world.
Designed by longtime Aman collaborator Kerry Hill Architects (KHA), Amanolu draws inspiration from the white coralline beaches, turquoise lagoons and pristine island setting of the Maldives. Set to open in 2028, the 52-key resort and a limited collection of 16 branded residences, will introduce the distinct Aman lifestyle to the destination for the first time. Characterised by simplicity and restraint, the architecture draws the surrounding landscape into everyday life, blurring the boundaries between indoors and out.
Each Aman Residence occupies its own island within Amanolu, with some oriented towards a single shoreline, embracing either sunrise or sunset views. Others extend from coast to coast, with beaches on both sides of the island and uninterrupted views from dawn to dusk. This relationship with the changing light and surrounding seascape is central to the living experience, creating a continuous connection to the natural rhythm of the Maldives.
Every island home features five bedrooms and is conceived as a personal retreat immersed in sea, sky and nature. Expansive indoor and outdoor living spaces unfold directly onto private beaches, while a 25-metre swimming pool and personal berth provide the foundation for effortless island living, each residence offers an exceptional degree of privacy, while remaining connected to the wider Amanolu experience. In addition, dedicated staff accommodation at every home ensures the intuitive and unparalleled service, and the discretion, care and personalised attention, for which the brand is renowned.
Complementing the residential offering, Amanolu will provide a host of best-in-class amenities available to Residence Owners and hotel guests.
