It’s great to see the Area GM of a major Sydney hotel, Shangri-La, acknowledge his team for winning two highly significant awards.
In a LinkedIn post, Rob Weeden, Area General Manager, Shangri-La Sydney & Shangri-La Cairns, said, “Two Awards, One Extraordinary Team”, adding, I am incredibly proud that Shangri-La Sydney has received two major honours at the Business NSW 2026 Business Awards Sydney ”

- Outstanding Business Leader (21 employees and over): Rob Weeden, Area General Manager
He added, “While the second award recognises my contribution, it belongs equally to the remarkable people around me”, and “Every day, our colleagues bring warmth, professionalism and genuine care to our guests” and “Their dedication has strengthened our hotel, created memorable experiences and made these achievements possible”.
He also said that Shangri-La Sydney has long been a place where Sydney comes to celebrate life’s important moments and we are immensely proud of our role in the city and of our contribution to leading Sydney’s tourism and hospitality industry.
He added, “I am incredibly lucky to have found my Shangri-La. I love our profession and the work that we do”, adding, “Every day is different, and I feel very fortunate to lead such an amazing team and to work for the Shangri-La Group, a great company that believes deeply in its people and the art of heartfelt hospitality.
He said, “My sincere thanks to every colleague at the hotel, to the wider Shangri-La family and to my own family for their unwavering encouragement and support”, adding, “Leadership is never a solo achievement, and I am deeply grateful to share this recognition with all of you”.
