More than 50 artists reunite at the MCA for a three-night celebration of creative freedom, dissent and divine mischief.
[14 September, Sydney] UNHOLY / DIVINE brings more than 50 independent artists across three events into one of Australia’s major contemporary art institutions to celebrate the power of difference, dissent and divine mischief.
First, on 8 October, is An Unholy Funeral – a one-off event in the MCA’s iconic Foundation Hall, designed to lay to rest the memories of Divine Playhouse. You’re invited to find your high fashion funeral veil and join us in a party to die for. Expect processions, hymns and performance spaces curated by artists till late.
Then, as part of the MCA’s ongoing Late program, something excessive and expressive will emerge across two distinct Thursday nights.
On Thursday 22 October, it’s out with the bad juju and in with the joy. Consider this your invitation to a heavenly awakening. Taffeta encouraged. Divine intervention guaranteed.
Finally, on Thursday 29 October, it’s time for some indulgence. Give in to temptation and taste the forbidden fruit. Bring your secrets, confess your sins and surrender to a night of delicious indiscretion and very naughty art.
