One of Australia’s top luxury getaways, the hidden hilltop haven of Mt Hay Retreat on the NSW South Coast, says it is the perfect choice for an extra-slow, midweek stay this spring.

Described as hovering alluringly over the emerald valleys of the Shoalhaven above the charming town of Berry, the multi-award-winning retreat is offering an indulgent, three-night ‘Midweek Escape’ package for bookings made by October 30, 2026.

In terms of accolades, Mt Hay Retreat won Silver in the five-star luxury accommodation category at the Australian Tourism National Awards in March this year, after winning Gold as the best five-star luxury accommodation in NSW at the NSW Tourism Awards last November. Mt Hay Retreat also won Gold at the NSW Tourism Awards in 2024, and Silver at the subsequent Australian Tourism Awards in 2024.

The luxury property’s string of awards includes the coveted Gold award for five-star luxury accommodation in Australia at the National Tourism Awards in 2022.

It is an adults-only property, so the kids will have to stay at home with grandma or grandpa,  and Mt Hay Retreat says it pampers guests with abundant tranquillity, seclusion, service and indulgence, with a luxurious king bed, exceptionally large living room, kitchenette and a private deck with expansive views towards the Pacific Ocean and each of the custom suites is a complete sanctuary, with every element designed to soothe and revitalise.

While some suites offer tranquil, in-room soaking experiences in deep bathtubs, others invite you to relax in outdoor baths with endless views, with the thrilling ‘Cloud Swing’ promising an exhilarating experience high above the meadows, and the retreat’s magnificent 33m-long heated pool and spa offer a warm embrace.

Berry’s lively cafes, restaurants, and boutiques are only ten minutes away, and on-site massages are available.

Mt Hay Retreat’s ‘Midweek Escape’ package this spring includes three nights’ accommodation between Sunday and Thursday nights, a chilled bottle of champagne, local cheeseboard, hand-made, chocolate-dipped strawberries and a decadent, late checkout of noon, all available from $1,200 per couple (valued normally at $1,445).

Don’t hang about, though, as you need to book by October 30, 2026.
