Ho Lee Fook gives its much-loved Good Fortune Club a fresh new spin since launching in July 2022, transforming the monthly Sunday gathering into an afternoon of endless dim sum and Chinese wine. Taking place on the first Sunday of every month, the revamped experience brings together an unlimited menu by Executive Chef Archan Chan inclusive of one bottle of Chinese wine per guest, priced at HK$988 + 10%.
Good Fortune Club has long been Ho Lee Fook’s answer to a leisurely Hong Kong Sunday afternoon spent around the table with friends. In its latest iteration, the restaurant turns the spotlight towards one of its greatest passions: the evolving world of Chinese wine. Guests can settle in over endless steamers of signature classics and special dim sum creations, accompanied by a bottle selected from a line-up of sparkling, white, rosé and red wines from some of China’s most exciting producers.
The experience draws from Ho Lee Fook’s collection of 110 Chinese wines spanning Ningxia, Xinjiang, Yunnan, Shandong, Shanxi and Hebei, one of the most extensive explorations of Chinese wine in Hong Kong. The restaurant’s sommeliers have built the collection around bottles that speak not only to China’s rapidly developing wine industry, but also to Chinese culture, history and Ho Lee Fook’s own culinary story.
Zero-proof sparkling tea is also available, while guests keen to explore the collection further can upgrade to a selection of reserve Chinese wines.
ENDLESS DIM SUM, HO LEE FOOK STYLE
There is no need to choose carefully here. Good Fortune Club is made for ordering generously, passing plates around the table and going back for another round.
Chef ArChan brings together Ho Lee Fook favourites and special dim sum creations including Har Har Har Gow; Pork, Prawn & Quail Egg Siu Mai; Crispy Minced Chicken & Glutinous Rice Dumpling; Bombay Duck Spring Roll; Steamed Garlic Chives & Vegetable Dumplings; Kurobuta Pork Char Siu Puff with Pineapple; and Mala Pork Xiao Long Bao.
More playful creations include “Prawn Toast x Okonomiyaki”, finished with Kewpie mayonnaise, Bull-Dog sauce, shaved cabbage and aonori; Mala Beef Balls with kaffir lime leaves; and Chiuchow-Style Cheung Fun with spring onion.
The unlimited menu extends well beyond dim sum, with Chongqing Chicken Wings with facing heaven chillies, dried chillies and Sichuan pepper; Salt & Pepper Tofu with crispy garlic; Turnip Cake with Ho Lee Fook XO sauce and Chinese sausage; Fujian Fried Rice; and Salted Pork & Egg Fried Rice Vermicelli.
From the barbecue, guests can tuck into Ho Lee Fook’s honey-glazed, charcoal-grilled Kurobuta Pork Char Siu, alongside Pipa Goose, with one serving available per table. To finish are Green Bean Ice Cream with rue oil and coconut cream and Crispy Coffee & Salted Egg Yolk Lava Buns.
A NEW SPOTLIGHT ON CHINESE WINE
The revamped Good Fortune Club places Chinese wine firmly alongside dim sum as one of the afternoon’s main attractions. Each guest is invited to select one bottle from the Good Fortune Club list, with sparkling, white, rosé and red expressions offering a taste of the diversity of China’s modern wine regions and winemakers.
Ho Lee Fook’s sommeliers have sought out wines with stories that speak to Chinese culture, history and the restaurant itself. Some follow the journeys of Chinese winemakers beyond China, from Hong Kong-born talent shaping wines in Italy to the early Chinese labourers who helped plant Sonoma’s vineyards in the 19th century. Others lead back to places with a connection to Ho Lee Fook, including Australian estates tied to Chef ArChan’s years cooking there, as well as wines that have graced the tables of historic Chinese banquets.
The selection includes Devo ‘MV04’ Brut Nature from Ningxia, produced by China’s first winery devoted entirely to traditional-method, zero-dosage sparkling wine; Tiansai Skyline of Gobi ‘Selection’ Chardonnay from Xinjiang; Puchang Vineyard ‘Orange’ Rkatsiteli from the desert oasis of Turpan Valley; Xige Estate ‘Jade Dove’ Rosé from Ningxia; Canaan Winery Chapter and Verse Hebei ‘Huailai Mastery’ Pinot Noir; and Grace Vineyard ‘Tasya’s’ Reserve Sangiovese from Shanxi.
For an additional HK$388, guests can explore reserve selections including September Helan ‘The Missing Vineyard’ Syrah from Ningxia and XiaoLing ‘Nuages de XiaoLing’ from Yunnan.
With endless dim sum, one bottle per guest and a different side of Chinese wine to discover, the revamped Good Fortune Club brings fresh energy to Ho Lee Fook’s monthly Sunday tradition.
