Spread the love

BYRDLI, the travel commerce platform made for creators and independent agents to transform their travel inspiration into their own bookable experiences, has unveiled The Space Between, a new campaign with Hawaiʻi Tourism designed to encourage travellers to slow down, connect more deeply and experience Oʻahu beyond the traditional itinerary.

Featuring travel filmmakers and photographers Erin Roche and Jackson Rule of The Way To Wherever, the campaign follows a journey from the energy of Waikīkī to Oʻahu’s North Shore, capturing not only where they go, but the people, culture, food, communities and moments encountered along the way.

At the heart of the campaign is a simple idea:

The best parts of travel are rarely the ones you plan. They’re found in the space between.

Between sunrise and sunset.

Between the city and the coastline.

Between one conversation and the next.

Between arriving somewhere and truly understanding a place.

A Different Way to Experience Hawaiʻi

Rather than building the campaign around a checklist of attractions, The Space Between focuses on the experiences that create a deeper connection to place.

From conversations with locals and meals shared around a table to small businesses, cultural experiences, ocean mornings and the changing rhythm between Waikīkī and the North Shore, the campaign has been designed to showcase the feeling of Hawaiʻi alongside its extraordinary landscapes.

“Hawaiʻi is a destination that rewards travellers who take the time to experience it more deeply,” said Darragh Walshe, Hawaiʻi Tourism Oceania.

“Through The Space Between, we have an opportunity to showcase Oʻahu not only through its extraordinary landscapes, but through its people, culture, communities and the experiences that create a genuine connection to place.

“We want visitors to arrive with curiosity and respect, to support local businesses and communities, and to leave with a deeper understanding of what makes Hawaiʻi so special. Erin and Jackson’s journey from Waikīkī to the North Shore provides a wonderful platform to tell that story.”

The Moments We Remember

For BYRDLI, the creative idea behind The Space Between reflects a broader shift in the way destinations can be experienced and shared.

“We built The Space Between around a simple truth: the moments we remember most when we travel are so often the ones we didn’t plan,” said Vanessa Richards, Co-Founder and CEO of BYRDLI.

“A conversation with someone local. A recommendation that changes your day. Somewhere you stop unexpectedly. Sitting and watching the ocean for longer than you intended.

“What excites me about this campaign is that we’re not only capturing those moments, we’re creating a direct path for travellers to experience them for themselves through Erin and Jackson’s Travel Club. Inspiration becomes an itinerary, an itinerary becomes bookable, and for Hawaiʻi that means we can connect beautiful destination storytelling directly to measurable visitation.”

From Waikīkī to the North Shore

Throughout the campaign, Erin and Jackson will experience different sides of Oʻahu, beginning in Waikīkī before travelling towards the North Shore.

Their journey will bring together accommodation, local food, culture, community, nature and experiences, while highlighting the moments and people encountered between destinations.

Rather than positioning the creators at the centre of the story, The Space Between uses Erin and Jackson’s journey as a lens through which audiences can experience Oʻahu.

Hawaiʻi remains the hero.

From Inspiration to Bookable Travel

Unlike a traditional destination campaign, the journey doesn’t end with the content.

Erin and Jackson will curate their experience into their existing Travel Club on BYRDLI, creating a dedicated, bookable Oʻahu journey featuring their recommended stays, experiences and itinerary.

Travellers inspired by the campaign will be able to move directly from discovering Oʻahu through Erin and Jackson’s content to exploring and booking their own trip.

For Hawaiʻi Tourism, the campaign creates a direct connection between destination storytelling and measurable travel outcomes, including accommodation bookings, room nights and revenue.

“Destination marketing shouldn’t have to stop at inspiration,” Richards added.

“When someone sees a story that makes them want to travel, we should make it easy for them to act on that feeling. BYRDLI allows that inspiration to become a real journey, while giving destination partners visibility into what happens next.”

A Campaign Designed to Live Beyond the Trip

The Space Between will be supported across creator content, social media, digital marketing, and Erin and Jackson’s BYRDLI Travel Club.

The Travel Club will remain live beyond the campaign period, creating an ongoing pathway for travellers to discover and book Oʻahu long after the initial campaign concludes.

At its heart, The Space Between is an invitation to experience Hawaiʻi differently.

To stay a little longer.

To listen.

To connect.

To notice what happens between one destination and the next.

Because sometimes the moments that weren’t on the itinerary become the reason you remember the journey at all.
