Vietjet has fired up its August Double Day sale, giving Australians a timely reason to swap winter woollies for Vietnam’s tropical warmth.
The main offer is a batch of Eco fares starting at $199 one-way, with taxes and fees included. They cover direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth to Ho Chi Minh City. Bookings close at 2 am AEST on 9 August 2026. That is late enough for night owls, but early enough to catch anyone who waits until breakfast. Promotional bookings can be made through Vietjet’s official website.
The sale covers set travel dates from 5 September 2026 to 31 March 2027. Public holidays, busy dates and local rules are not included. In plain English, the deal is real, but the calendar still has the last word.
Guests who want more space can use promo code BUSB88 for up to 30 per cent off Business and SkyBoss base fares on direct overseas flights. Vietjet is also giving 20 per cent off Deluxe fares on its Hanoi–Almaty–Prague service with code DLX88.

The meal trolley gets a price cut too. Guests who pre-order meal combos can save 50 per cent for trips from 18 August 2026 to 31 March 2027. The deal applies across the network, apart from connecting trips. Pho at altitude may not fix every problem in aviation, but it is a good start.
The sale comes after Vietjet won its first Best Hybrid Airline title at the 2026 Korea Consumer Awards. The carrier also won Best Inflight Food Experience and Service Excellence honours. The wins reflect Vietjet’s shift beyond the basic low-cost model. Its fare range now spans Eco, Deluxe, SkyBoss and Business.
That hybrid plan is being backed by new routes. Vietjet will start flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo on 18 August 2026. Its Hanoi–Almaty and onward Hanoi–Prague service is due to start on 10 October 2026. Airbus A330 jets will fly the Prague leg.
For Australian travel agents, the wider network is the real business story. Vietnam is still the main drawcard. Yet new links to Sri Lanka, Central Asia and Europe give Vietjet more reach. They also give guests more reason to use Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi as a gateway, rather than the last stop.
Bookings are open through Vietjet’s official website, its mobile app and approved sales outlets. Guests should check bag limits, fare rules, blackout dates and change terms before they pay. A cheap seat is a fine thing. A cheap seat that suits the trip is even better.
