Baglioni Hotel Luna Venice celebrated a new chapter in its history during an exclusive evening that began with an aperitivo on two of the hotel’s iconic terraces overlooking the Bacino di San Marco and towards the island of San Giorgio, followed by a bespoke dinner featuring a specially curated menu by Santo Mare in the recently renovated Marco Polo Ballroom. The evening ended with an open bar and a DJ set on the terraces.
The occasion marked the culmination of a series of enhancements that have elevated guest rooms, public spaces and dining experiences while carefully preserving the heritage and timeless character of one of Venice’s most iconic luxury hotels. The property’s origins date back to the 12th century, when the building served as a refuge for the Knights Templar departing for the Holy Land.
As part of The Palace Company’s portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts, Baglioni Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its presence in Europe, guided by a long-term vision that celebrates and preserves the unique character of each destination while continually refining the guest experience.
“At Baglioni Hotel Luna Venice, we believe that true luxury hospitality is about evolving while remaining true to our identity. Over the past several years, we have continued to invest in this remarkable property, reaffirming our long-term commitment to Venice and to preserving the unique character of one of the city’s most historic hotels. The renovation of our rooms and suites, the transformation of Canova Bar, the opening of Santo Mare and the recent renovation of the Marco Polo Ballroom all reflect our vision of honouring our heritage while looking confidently to the future,” said Massimo Baldo, Vice President, Europe at The Palace Company.

Years of Continuous Transformation
In the last five years, Baglioni Hotel Luna Venice has undertaken an extensive renewal program that has thoughtfully elevated nearly every aspect of the guest experience.
All guest rooms and suites have been fully refurbished using carefully selected materials that respect the building’s historic identity, including Versailles-style parquet flooring in the San Giorgio Suite — the most exclusive suite of the hotel —, handcrafted wood flooring, Rubelli fabrics — one of the finest expressions of Venice’s textile tradition —, and Carrara white marble finishes.
In 2021, the hotel completed the redesign of its historic Canova Bar and reception area. Led by the renowned architecture studio Spagnulo & Partners, the project introduced a contemporary interpretation of these iconic spaces while preserving their timeless elegance and architectural character.
In 2025, the hotel further enhanced its culinary offering with the opening of Santo Mare, its signature seafood restaurant, developed in collaboration with Reitano Food, an international group founded by Andrea Reitano, whose vision combines the Italian tradition of seafood cuisine with a contemporary approach.
Open to both hotel guests and local visitors, Santo Mare offers the finest seasonal seafood sourced from Italian waters. The restaurant offers an interactive dining experience, where guests can select the catch of the day before it is transformed by the culinary team into refined dishes that celebrate the purity and quality of each ingredient. Signature creations are complemented by a carefully curated wine list, making Santo Mare an essential part of Baglioni Hotel Luna Venice’s gastronomic identity.
In 2026, the hotel completed the meticulous renovation of the iconic Marco Polo Ballroom — used today for breakfast and special events — enhancing the guest experience and the comfort of the space while preserving its historic character and extraordinary decorative elements, from the 18th-century frescoes of the School of Tiepolo to the 19th-century canvases by Ermolao Paoletti.
A New Leadership Chapter
As part of this new phase, Baglioni Hotel Luna Venice also announced the appointment of Tito De Benedetto as General Manager. Bringing extensive international hospitality experience, he will lead the property into its next chapter while continuing to strengthen its position among Europe’s leading luxury hotels.
His appointment marks the beginning of a new era, building on the hotel’s rich heritage and The Palace Company’s ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality across its international portfolio.
