Regent Phu Quoc is pleased to announce the unveiling of a beautiful new art exhibition, ‘The Memory of Flowers’, featuring the photography of Phạm Tuấn Ngọc on 1 July 2026. Regent Phu Quoc is internationally regarded as one of the finest hotels in Vietnam, set on the pearly white sands of Long Beach with expansive views of shimmering seas, cobalt blue sky, and lush tropical landscape surrounding. In addition to serving as a luxury destination, it is known for championing emerging and established Vietnamese creatives and introducing and sharing their artwork with both guests and locals.
This solo exhibition by Vietnamese visual artist Phạm Tuấn Ngọc is curated by Lou Anmella-de Montalembert and organised by Maison Jade Art Consultancy with the support of Noirfoto Gallery. Comprising more than thirty photographs, ‘The Memory of Flowers’ explores the natural cycle of a flower’s life through the lens of the ancient lumen print technique – a camera-less photographic process that relies on the interaction between sunlight and photosensitive paper. The beautiful new exhibition invites both resort guests and gallery visitors to pause and reflect on what matters most, while appreciating the beauty and transience of life’s fleeting moments.
At the heart of Phạm Tuấn Ngọc’s practice is the belief that the sun is not merely a source of illumination, but the master orchestrator of existence. It commands the seed to sprout, the stem to grow, and the bud to blossom, and yet it also contributes to the flower’s inevitable fading and decline. Within this exhibition ‘The Memory of Flowers’, the series Chloris Immortal and Chloris Reincarnationto be presented here at Regent Phu Quoc, the artist captures this duality by placing flowers directly onto photosensitive paper, exposing them to the raw power of sunlight without the use of a camera. As the sun, heat, and humidity interact with the silver chloride in the paper, the flowers wilt and fade, revealing poetic and abstract details of their imprint.
“’The Memory of Flowers’ is an invitation to contemplate the encounter between chemistry and aesthetics. Photography is presented here as a vital gesture, akin to the organic process of flowers. In the same way flowers bloom, the pictures emerge, transform and then fade away. The sun acts as a way to show presence but also transience: it reveals as much as it causes disappearance. It is the energy that, like an invisible thread, connects the flowers to their memory”, shares curator Lou Anmella-de Montalembert.

Regent Phu Quoc has a long-standing history of highlighting and celebrating local Vietnamese artists. The previous exhibition, ‘Ethereal Dialogue: Trúc Chỉ Art Exhibition’, was a long-term exhibition on view until May 2026, featuring works by Vietnamese Trúc Chỉ artists, presenting a contemplative exploration of Trúc Chỉ paper art where material, light, and human perception converge, attracting many art enthusiasts. Highlighting this art is central to Regent Phu Quoc’s mission of cultural celebration through art.
Phạm Tuấn Ngọc explains, “art must hold three things in balance — an idea, the technique to give it form, and beauty. I have taken the flower as my muse for all that it symbolises, and I work with lumen printing not only because it is a camera-less process still rare in Vietnam, but also as it asks the flower to surrender its own body onto the light-sensitive paper — leaving an imprint that is at once immortal and singular, a likeness that can never occur twice. Much like a photograph, a flower’s meaning can fade if no one pauses to reflect on the stories it carries — how it came into being, the time it took to bloom, and the emotions it evokes. Through ‘The Memory of Flowers,’ I hope to encourage visitors to find beauty in the seemingly simple, and to appreciate the creativity, craftsmanship, and innovative artistic techniques that continue to flourish throughout Vietnam.”
The exhibition will open to resort guests and visitors at The Gallery, Regent Phu Quoc on 1 July 2026 and will run until 31 October 2026.
