The Lebanese airline Middle East Airlines now connects BER with Beirut, Lebanon’s capital. This provides the capital region with an additional direct link to the Middle East. The route is operated four times a week, on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The flight schedule has been designed to allow for flexible travel when visiting friends and relatives, enabling extended weekend stays and longer trips. The Airbus A320 aircraft, which can accommodate 180 passengers, will be used on the flights.
“Welcome! We are delighted to welcome Middle East Airlines, a new, established network carrier, to BER,” says Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. “The new route to Beirut strengthens the capital region’s links to the Middle East and provides an additional, reliable service for travellers with family and personal ties to the region. We wish you a pleasant flight every time.”
The new route is geared, in particular, to travellers wishing to visit family and friends at home. The capital region is home to a large Lebanese community as well as a significant number of people with connections to the region. Beirut also offers connections for onward travel within the region, and is particularly relevant for travellers heading to destinations in Syria among others.
