For an increasing number of travellers, the business trip no longer ends when the meeting does.
As bleisure travel continues to shape how companies plan where to stage their events and how to boost participation, Anaheim is harnessing the growing trend, leveraging its iconic holiday appeal and investment in new experiences to elevate business travel opportunities.
According to Visit Anaheim’s recent bleisure travel insights,* more travellers are extending work trips to include leisure time, whether that means arriving early, staying longer or bringing family along for part of the journey.
With a combination of major meetings infrastructure, Southern California lifestyle appeal and a significant pipeline of new developments, few destinations are better positioned to capitalise on the bleisure travel trend than Anaheim.
At the heart of Anaheim’s business events offering is the Anaheim Convention Center, the largest convention centre on the US West Coast, surrounded by thousands of hotel rooms, dining venues and world famous entertainment highlights.
Within reach of the Anaheim Convention Center, travellers can spend an extra day or more exploring Disneyland Resort, enjoying the city’s growing food and drinks scene, attending a concert or sporting event at Honda Center or Angel Stadium or venturing to Orange County’s nearby coastal hotspots of Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach.
The destination is also continuing to invest in new experiences that align with the evolving expectations of modern business travellers.
One of the most significant developments is OCVIBE, a new 100-acre entertainment and lifestyle district taking shape around Honda Center. Designed as a walkable destination that brings together dining, entertainment, hospitality, workplaces and community gathering spaces, the project reflects the growing convergence of work and leisure travel with phased announcements and openings into 2027 and beyond.
Just announced as the latest major milestone for OCVIBE is The Weave, a new workplace and office destination anchored by Kiln, a hospitality-driven flexible workspace and community hub. Designed around collaboration, connection and flexibility, Kiln at OCVIBE will support the growing demand for bleisure travel with a blend of meetings, work, hospitality, entertainment and culture, all in one place.
Other developments underway include DisneylandForward, a long-term expansion plan that will create opportunities for new attractions, hotels, dining, shopping and entertainment across the Disneyland Resort footprint, adding to off-site options and pre- or post-event offerings.
Adjacent to the Anaheim Convention Center, the 1,574-room Hilton Anaheim has recently completed a multi-million-dollar renovation spanning guestrooms, meeting spaces, dining venues and guest amenities, while ongoing upgrades at John Wayne Airport are enhancing the passenger experience and improving access to Anaheim for connecting travellers.
As the lines between work and holiday time continue to blend into the growing trend of bleisure travel, Anaheim is a compelling choice for travellers heading to Southern California for a conference, convention or business event or just a remote work trip, where the holiday can begin before the return flight home.
