With just four shows scheduled, an east coast tour that is both small and epic is set to kick off in Gympie on Thursday 9 July 2026 at Gympie Music Hall.

Kanagroos With Machine Guns are a band that does not rehearse or write set lists. They believe that music is the union between the personal internal world and the mystical. They are driven by the glittering glistening moment of creation. Many of the songs on their new record were performed by the band for the very first time. They are not perfect but there is a freshness and vibrancy akin to a lightning strike, or a first or last breath.

The band is signed to Darren Hanlon’s Flippin’ Yeah Records, a label based right here in Gympie that has a reputation for showcasing authentic and original storytelling in musical form.

Darren recalls the first time he saw frontman Archer perform, “Looking like a cross between some kind of swagman and Errol Flynn, he was belting out ballads like a Tex Morton evangelist. He looked too young for such a deep and battleaged voice such as that. And what a beautiful vibrato!”

Kangaroos with machine guns are a bi-coastal band, sometimes in Boorloo WA, sometimes all over Australia. Fronted by celestial bagman Archer, with Luke Dux on his electrafried guitar, Ryan Dux on the bull fiddle and Todd Pickett playing drums with heart.

“His intrepid traveling has brought him more frequently to WA over these past years. That’s where he teamed up with a band of crack musicians over there to form Kangaroos With Machine Guns. They just seem to understand his sensibilities and are perfect in elevating Archer’s songs into a visceral Australian gothic soundscape,” says Darren.

Kanagroos With Machine Guns are coming to the east coast for a small and exclusive tour and playing in Gympie for the first of four shows only. Supporting them is local Georgia Blue who recently released her first single ‘Like an Old Friend’ which got airplay around the country. Her blend of country delivered with heart will set the scene for a great night of original live music.

Doors open at 5.30pm on Thursday 9 July 2026 at Gympie Music Hall. Bar and snacks available as well as vinyl and merchandise. For more information about Kangaroos With Machine Guns and to book tickets to the Gympie show, head to Flippin’ Yeah Records website.
