Singapore Airlines (SIA) today announced the start of construction works on its new SilverKris Lounge at Melbourne Airport. The new lounge is expected to be completed by end-2026, further elevating the on-ground experience for customers.

Situated in a new location on the third floor of the International Departures terminal, above Gate 10, the new lounge will incorporate signature design elements from SIA’s flagship SilverKris Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3, including a 3D batik wall at the lounge entrance and bespoke wingback chairs embroidered with SIA’s batik motif.

Customers will enjoy around 30 per cent more space and seating capacity, an enhanced range of dining options and amenities, a brighter, daylit space with apron and runway views, and convenient access to all international boarding gates in the transit area.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr. Foo Chai Woo, said the much-anticipated project reflects SIA’s commitment to the Melbourne market, following recent upgrades to its SilverKris lounges in Perth and Sydney.

“Since our first flight from Singapore to Melbourne in 1971, we have invested in and grown our operations, with five daily flights now operating between the Lion City and Victoria’s capital,” Mr. Foo said.

“The new lounge location and refreshed design will elevate the on-ground experience for our customers with more space, expanded dining options, improved amenities, natural sunlight, and a view of the runway, where customers can watch aircraft take off and land. Our current lounge will remain open throughout the construction works to minimise disruption to our customers, before we transition to the new, bespoke space.”

Melbourne Airport Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Lorie Argus, said the investment highlights the strength of the partnership between the airport and Singapore Airlines.

“This significant investment by Singapore Airlines is a strong vote of confidence in Melbourne and reflects the continued growth in demand for high-quality international travel experiences,” Ms. Argus said.

“Upgrades like the new SilverKris Lounge as well as the resumption of Singapore Airlines A380 services to Melbourne enhance our international offering and ensure Melbourne Airport continues to deliver a world-class international traveller experience.”

Spanning 792 square metres, the new Melbourne SilverKris Lounge will continue to feature separate First Class and Business Class sections. Each will include its own dedicated dining area and lounge space, with a combined capacity of more than 170 guests.

The refreshed lounge will offer an elevated dining experience, barista-quality coffee, and a curated beverage programme. A live cooking station, curated buffet line, and a dedicated bar will be available for Business Class customers. In the First Class section, customers can enjoy a more intimate, à la carte dining experience.

Each space has been thoughtfully designed to help customers relax, refresh, and recharge before their flight, from a welcoming lounge area and shower facilities to an expanded dining area. Customers can also work in one of several dedicated productivity pods, which provide a private and comfortable workspace.

SIA’s existing Melbourne SilverKris Lounge, located on level 1 at International T2 Satellite, will remain open while construction works on the new lounge are underway.

Lounge access will continue to be available to customers travelling in First Class or Business Class, PPS Club or KrisFlyer Elite Gold members, as well as Virgin Australia Velocity Beyond, Platinum, and Gold card members departing on Singapore Airlines- operated flights. In addition, Star Alliance Gold members travelling on Star Alliance member carrier-operated flights will also be able to access the SilverKris Lounge.
