In Melbourne, where January always hums with the familiar rhythm of tennis balls, ambition and heat-shimmered expectation, Explora Journeys chose a quieter, more considered tempo.
On the eve of the Australian Open, the luxury ocean travel brand from the MSC Group hosted an intimate evening at Stokehouse, welcoming world tennis number one Jannik Sinner for a rare conversation that traded centre-court fireworks for something far more enduring: balance.
The occasion marked more than a social stopover ahead of Melbourne Park. It offered the first substantive preview of In Balance: A Jannik Sinner Ocean Wellness Programme, a new, exclusive onboard wellness concept being developed collaboratively between Explora Journeys and Sinner’s elite performance team, set to launch fleet-wide from March 2026.
Behind Sinner’s deceptively effortless baseline dominance lies a discipline forged well away from the spotlight. Recovery, mental clarity and precise physical conditioning underpin his rise, a philosophy that aligns neatly with Explora Journeys’ own guiding principle, the Ocean State of Mind.
It is a concept that rejects hurry and noise. Instead, it draws from the sea’s ancient ability to steady the pulse, quiet the mind and restore perspective — ideas that increasingly resonate in a world addicted to urgency.
The forthcoming programme translates those principles into a suite of onboard experiences designed not for athletes, but for modern travellers seeking genuine renewal. Mindful movement sessions, therapeutic breathwork, targeted recovery protocols and contrast therapies will form the backbone of the offering, all framed by the regenerative presence of the ocean itself.
During a candid Q&A, Sinner spoke openly about the importance of equilibrium not only during high-pressure matches but in daily life. Balance, he explained, is not something stumbled upon; it is trained, protected and practised.
The wellness programme, he said, is an opportunity to share the methods that help him reset between matches, adapted thoughtfully for guests who may be recovering from boardrooms rather than backhands.
There was nothing performative about the exchange. No slogans. No grandstanding. Just a quiet confidence that meaningful wellbeing is built through consistency, intention and environmental values. Explora Journeys has been weaving its luxury proposition into its brand since launch.
The evening also underscored how elite sport continues to shape contemporary luxury culture. Explora Journeys’ association with global events already extends beyond tennis. In 2025, guests watched the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco from the decks of an Explora vessel moored in Monte Carlo, complete with curated paddock access, pit-lane walks, and immersive onboard programming.
That experience will return in 2026, with one of the brand’s ships again occupying a coveted position at Monaco’s Port Hercule — a floating grandstand for one of the world’s most exclusive sporting theatres.
Yet for all the glamour, the Melbourne event suggested a brand playing a longer game. Explora Journeys is not chasing spectacle for spectacle’s sake. Its collaboration with Sinner reflects a broader ambition: to redefine luxury ocean travel as something restorative rather than exhausting, intentional rather than indulgent.
In an industry often tempted by excess, Explora Journeys is instead betting on stillness and on the idea that true luxury, like peak performance, comes from knowing when to slow down.

About the Writer.
Charmaine has always had a quiet kind of courage. She grew up in Shanghai, a city that moves at a tempo all its own, and somehow managed to keep her own rhythm studying accounting for the discipline, then the arts for the sheer love of beauty. “I needed both,” she says, “to feel whole.”
When she left China for Sydney in the 1980s, she carried nothing but a degree, a suitcase and a belief that she could start again. The first sea breeze off the harbour felt like permission. She met Stephen, and together they built a family, two children, a home filled with laughter, and a life straddling two cultures without apology.
Work has always been more than a job. Long before search engines became the centre of commerce, Charmaine was quietly helping companies be found and read—not just SEO but stories people wanted to click on. That is still her gift: finding connection in a crowded world.
Her life is less a résumé than a testament to grace under change, the accountant’s discipline, the artist’s eye, and a heart big enough for two continents.
