For all its champagne trimmings and silk-bound presentation boxes, the luxury gifting industry has long been stuck in the past. Hotel vouchers, in particular, have traditionally come weighed down by restrictions, fine print and the quiet disappointment of limited choice.

An Irish-founded start-up now believes it has found a cleaner, more innovative way forward.

Hotel & Spa Resorts.com has launched a global hotel gifting platform that allows recipients to redeem vouchers at more than 10,000 five-star hotels and resorts worldwide with no single-brand tie-in, no geographic handcuffs, and no waiting weeks for delivery. The model is deliberately simple: one voucher, near-universal acceptance, and complete freedom of choice.

Through its platform at https://www.hotelandsparesorts.com/, vouchers can be purchased in under a minute and delivered instantly by email — a practical nod to modern gifting realities. For those inclined towards something more tactile, the company also offers fully customisable luxury presentation packaging.

Behind the interface sits a 24-hour AI concierge, designed to help users sift through thousands of premium properties across major global destinations. From traditional European grand hotels to tropical resort hideaways and flagship city towers, the recipient — not the issuer — decides the destination.

Founder Adrienne Stewart says the industry has been overdue for a correction.

“Luxury gifting hasn’t kept up with modern lifestyles. People want freedom, immediacy and genuine luxury, not a list of restrictions. We’ve built a smarter, more elegant way to give the gift of travel, one that reflects how people live and how they choose to celebrate.”

The timing may be well judged. As consumers increasingly favour experiences over possessions, luxury travel has emerged as one of the most coveted gift categories, particularly among corporate clients searching for rewards that feel meaningful rather than routine.

Businesses, in particular, have taken notice. With tighter productivity expectations and a workforce now openly sceptical of novelty hampers and branded merchandise, experiential rewards are rapidly becoming the preferred currency. A universally flexible luxury hotel voucher fits neatly into that shift.

Co-founder Zoë Byrne says the company’s global ambitions have been baked in from day one.

“Hotel & Spa Resorts.com combines Irish entrepreneurship with global ambition, we’re proving that innovation in gifting can start in Ireland and travel everywhere.”

The platform already spans key markets across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, drawing on partnerships with many of the world’s best-known luxury hotel brands. Its central selling point, flexibility, also marks its most significant departure from traditional hotel gift cards, which typically lock recipients into one chain and one destination.

In a sector where presentation once trumped practicality, Hotel & Spa Resorts.com is betting that modern luxury lies in choice rather than ceremony. It is a small but telling example of how even the most tradition-bound corners of the travel industry are being quietly reshaped by consumer expectations.

Luxury, it seems, is no longer about where the voucher comes from but where it can take you.

Yves Thomas - Bio PicSomething quietly magnetic about Yves Thomas is the poised calm of someone who’s seen the world from both sides of the reception desk. A graduate of Bangkok University International, Yves earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Tourism and Hospitality Management and stepped straight into the beating heart of Thailand’s travel industry.
She worked with some of the country’s finest destination management companies, mastering the art of making other people’s holidays unforgettable.
In time, the call of the open road grew louder than boardroom meetings. Yves packed her bags, swapped conference calls for compass points, and set off to rediscover the joy of travel on her own terms. Somewhere between Chiang Mai and Copenhagen, she began to write small reflections that soon became her travel blog, a journal full of warmth and insight.
Now calling Hua Hin home, Yves has joined Global Travel Media to share those reflections with a broader audience not as a publicist, but as a storyteller with a traveller’s soul and a professional’s eye for detail.
