Dubai has a long tradition of thinking big. Bigger than most cities would dare. The Dubai Mall, already crowned the world’s most visited retail destination, is preparing to add another feather to its glittering cap.

Come 29–30 January 2026, it will host the inaugural Dubai Mall Festival of Fashion, a two-day summit of style and creativity that organisers promise will rival the world’s foremost fashion capitals.

Throughout the event, 12 masterclasses will be staged throughout the mall, led by internationally recognised designers, business leaders, and creative minds. It’s an agenda that combines glamour with purpose, equal parts runway and think tank.

The festival will reach its crescendo at the Dubai Mall Global Fashion Awards, held at the Armani Hotel Dubai on 30 January. There, the industry’s elite from European maisons to regional innovators will gather to celebrate creativity and craftsmanship in one of the world’s most architecturally distinctive venues.

“As the most visited retail destination on earth, Dubai Mall has always been at the heart of culture, lifestyle, and luxury,” a spokesperson for Dubai Mall said. “With the Festival of Fashion, we are proud to elevate our reputation as not just a shopping destination, but the centre of global fashion.”

Positioning Dubai as a Creative Capital

Home to more than 200 luxury brands, the Dubai Mall has long been a retail colossus. This new festival signals something more strategic, a deliberate move to reposition Dubai from where the world comes to shop, to where the world comes to create.

The timing is no accident. As the global retail and fashion sectors continue to navigate changing consumer habits, digital platforms, and sustainability pressures, Dubai is positioning itself as the bridge between established fashion markets and emerging creative economies.

Developed in partnership with Lana News Platform, the festival is also a media statement. Lana, one of the Middle East’s fastest-growing Arabic digital platforms, will produce a one-off commemorative publication, Dubai Mall Festival of Fashion, available across the mall from 1 January 2026.

The publication will feature designer profiles, behind-the-scenes access, and commentary that aims to frame the event as more than just a marketing spectacle an effort to capture the creative spirit of an entire region.

Economic Undercurrent

For all the glamour, there’s a clear economic rationale beneath the sequins. Dubai’s retail sector contributes substantially to the emirate’s non-oil GDP, and initiatives like the Festival of Fashion feed a broader strategy of cultural diversification and tourism growth.

Fashion and design are now seen as key drivers of “soft power,” the influence that builds prestige and draws international investment. By hosting a calendar event with global pull, Dubai Mall strengthens its brand and, by extension, the city’s image as a global business hub with creative depth.

Registration and ticketing details for the festival’s public and invitation-only sessions will be released on 1 November 2025, via the Lana App and the festival’s official website, The Dubai Mall.

A Calculated Statement of Confidence

Dubai’s decision to stage the Festival of Fashion at this scale is more than ambition; it’s intent. The city signifies its confidence in tourism recovery, retail strength, and cultural maturity.

If Paris, Milan, and London had long set the pace, Dubai would now be quietly, or perhaps not so quietly, designing a seat at the same table. In true Dubai style, the table itself is likely to be made of marble, have a backlit, and be Instagram-ready.

The adage goes, “fashion fades, style is eternal.” Dubai, it seems, intends to make both permanent fixtures.
