Vietjet Thailand announces its strong commitment to sustainable aviation under the “Fly Green” strategy at the 16th edition of SX Sustainability EXPO 2025, ASEAN’s largest sustainability event. The airline reaffirms its role as Thailand’s leading low-cost carrier with a deep commitment to society, communities, and the environment at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
Mr. Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of Vietjet Thailand, delivered a keynote in the panel discussion “From Sky to Land: Rethinking Tourism for the Next Generation” at SX Sustainability EXPO 2025, stating that, “Aviation is among the industries with the highest carbon emissions, releasing approximately 915 million tonnes of carbon dioxide in 2019—equivalent to around 2–2.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Transforming the aviation business towards sustainability is therefore an urgent priority for Vietjet Thailand. We have set a target to reduce total carbon emissions by over 228,000 tons annually by 2030 through a range of initiatives that continuously improve the efficiency of our operations. This commitment is aligned with our ‘Fly Green’ mission to deliver sustainability to our passengers, communities, society, and the environment.”
Vietjet Thailand has been implementing its sustainability strategy across multiple dimensions. Key initiatives include the adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) since 2024, which can reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel; the expansion of a modern fleet of 50 fuel-efficient Boeing 737-8 aircraft, which reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 16%; as well as the promotion of eco-tourism and the planned launch of a special “Green Route” to encourage passengers to actively take part in environmental preservation. The airline has also established the Fly Green Fund, which mobilizes resources from passengers, employees, and partners to support environmental projects across Thailand. These include the “Fly Green Metro Forest” initiative with the Sueb Nakhasathien Foundation to increase urban green space, the “Fly Green Forest – Mangrove” project to conserve and restore mangrove forests, and the “Fly Green Charity Run” to raise awareness and funds for environmental causes.
At SX Sustainability EXPO 2025, Vietjet Thailand further reinforces its sustainability vision through its “Fly Green, Fly Future” booth, offering an immersive and interactive exhibition that showcases the airline’s journey toward sustainability from sky, through sea, to land. Highlights include fleet modernization, SAF adoption, and environmental and social initiatives under the Fly Green Fund. Visitors can also participate in fun activities for the chance to win free domestic round-trip tickets.
