Get ready for a full day of lunar-loving fun this September as the iconic Cabramatta Moon Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary! Join us for all the exciting festivities you would come to expect, plus this year we’ll be hosting an Australian-first National Lion Dance Competition – bringing together the country’s top teams for a fierce and colourful showdown.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said this year’s Cabramatta Moon Festival is all about celebrating the community that’s made it shine for 25 years.
“For 25 years the Cabramatta Moon Festival has brought together tens of thousands of visitors from all over Sydney to celebrate our wonderful diversity, and connect with one of the most important dates of the Lunar Calendar,” Mayor Carbone said.
“This year’s lineup promises to be the most exciting yet. We’re making history with the Australian-first National Lion Dance Competition, bringing elite teams from across the country to the heart of Cabramatta to battle it out for glory.
“The Cabramatta Moon Festival reflects our City’s heart; inclusive, creative, and community-driven. Council, sponsors, volunteers, and the business community have supported this event over the last 25 years, and I look forward to seeing it grow even brighter in the years to come.”
Festivities kick off at 11am with food and market stalls, rides, free kids activities, and live entertainment into the night appealing to all ages and interests. Crowd favourites will return including the children’s chopstick challenge, the pho and mooncake eating competitions, together with the popular lantern parade led by the moon goddess and archer.
“I guarantee there will be something for everyone at the event, and I look forward to sharing our City’s incredible Southeast Asian culture, colour and energy with you,” Mayor Carbone said.
