Spread the love

Our time in Poland was divided between what we knew and liked and what we thought might be an interesting addition. Being on the Baltic Sea coast and including three different but equally interesting cities, we chose Gdansk alongside Sopot and Gdynia, the “tri-cities.”

Once you decide to visit, the first task is choosing where to stay. Fortunately, the Pomorska Regionalna Organizacja Turystyczna (Pomorska Tourism) came to our rescue with a suggestion: the Dwor Uphagen hotel. This hotel meets all needs and is only a 15-minute walk to the city centre.

The Uphagen Manor is a fine example of architecture, contemporary art, and avant-garde. The complex consists of the 1800s Uphagen family summer residence building and the industrial interiors of a former hospital, where our room was. Our room was formerly a hospital training room, which we found appropriate as I spent most of my career in Training Rooms worldwide!

It is a contact with the past, with emotions, with stories embedded deep within the old walls. It is experiencing the city from the less commercial side. Uphagen is of the highest quality in a completely updated version.

This hotel in Gdansk will meet your expectations—it will be comfortable, provide privacy and tranquillity, and be tailored to the needs of guests of all ages.

The Dwor Uphagen hotel is in the Lower Town, an artistic district of Gdansk. Near the best attractions, it is a 15-minute walk to the Main Town, Golden Gate, or St. Mary’s Basilica.

Uphagen Manor House in Gdańsk is a reasonably priced treasure in the Arche Hotels collection. It lies in a rapidly developing, historic neighbourhood by the Motława river outflow, adjacent to the city’s Downtown and Old Town. We viewed the changing neighbourhoods and, more than once, exclaimed, “You know, we could live here.”

So, what makes Uphagen Manor House stand out?

Authenticity – displaying the history of the site and its original state to the maximum, and integrating it with modern solutions. A historic building, whose oldest part dates to the 1800s, with interesting architectural solutions like preserved ceiling beams, half-timbered walls, and raw brick, all of which add to the exceptional design of the place.

The Old Kitchen Restaurant is a unique space in the main building, decorated with functional art, such as an antique industrial stove. Outside, there is a green courtyard patio.

An old kitchen from the late 19th century, originally lit by fire, is now decorated with an incredible piece of applied art, which reminds the interior of its historical character.

The Old Kitchen gives a different dimension. It has nourished the place and the memory, and we were well nourished with a nutritious and delicious breakfast while we excitedly planned our day’s activities. Smacznego!

“Motivate them, train them, care about them, and make winners out of them… they’ll treat the customers right. And if customers are treated right, they’ll come back.”
