Global apparel retailer UNIQLO today announces an exciting project to deliver a bigger, better shopping experience for its customers in Melbourne. Extensive renovations of the Emporium flagship store, which first opened in 2014, will create an elevated LifeWear experience with the renewed store reopening later this year.
Located in Emporium Melbourne at 287 Lonsdale Street, the store renovations aim to enhance the shopping experience by introducing a refreshed store layout and updated in-store features. This includes the introduction of some exciting global in-store offerings that will be available for the first time in an Australian UNIQLO store, details of which will be announced closer to the store re-opening.
Opened in 2014 as UNIQLO’s inaugural Australian store, the Emporium Melbourne location has been a cornerstone of the brand’s presence in the country. The upcoming renovations reflect UNIQLO’s commitment to providing customers with high-quality, high-value LifeWear clothing in a modern and inviting environment.
Commenting on the renovation, UNIQLO Australia CEO Fuminori Adachi said, “Since landing in Australia in 2014, UNIQLO has been dedicated to providing local customers with our unique LifeWear apparel. Following our first store at Emporium, we have opened an incredible 40 stores nation-wide, thanks to great support from Australian customers. In 2025, UNIQLO Emporium will be undergoing an extensive upgrade in line with our global store designs and aesthetic. We are thrilled to be able to provide our Melbourne customers with a world class store environment and experience in our new Emporium store, reopening soon”.
Gordon White, Centre Manager of Emporium Melbourne, said, “We’re incredibly proud to be the home of UNIQLO’s first Australian store, and we’re thrilled to support this next chapter in their journey. This exciting renovation will reimagine the UNIQLO experience at Emporium Melbourne, aligning perfectly with our vision to deliver a premium, globally inspired retail environment in the heart of the city.”
UNIQLO Emporium will temporarily close for the renovation on 6th July. During the renovation period, customers are encouraged to visit other UNIQLO locations in Melbourne, including the Chadstone store, which offers an extensive range of UNIQLO LifeWear items across two levels. Alternatively, customers can shop online at www.uniqlo.com/au for convenient home delivery.
