Ahura Resorts’ original resort property, Malolo Island Resort, is proud to announce a series of major investments and enhancements —totalling over FJD $4.6 million—designed to enrich the unfiltered deluxe family‑friendly island getaway that has made Malolo a long‑time, multi award-winning Fiji favourite.
Transforming Connectivity and Comfort
Over the past 18 months, Malolo Island Resort has invested FJD $1.5 million in state‑of‑the‑art technology upgrades, including resort‑wide high‑speed Wi‑Fi in all bures and the launch of a bespoke Malolo Resort App. Guests can now check in, browse daily activities, and book island‑wide experiences directly from their devices—seamlessly blending modern convenience with the laid‑back pace of Fijian island life.
All 46 bures and suites have also received a refresh, featuring new bedding, blackout curtains, and premium espresso machines. Public areas and restaurants have been rejuvenated with updated furniture, while lush gardens and lawns have been replanted and reshaped to complement the resort’s natural surroundings.
Enhancing Leisure, Dining, and Sustainability
The adults‑only poolside terrace has been revitalized to create a tranquil oasis, complete with new loungers to accompany the existing shaded daybed cabanas. In the resort’s commitment to environmental stewardship, Ahura Resorts is on track to complete its own water‑production and bottling plant next month. Once operational, every room will receive complimentary still water in bespoke, recycled‑glass bottles – made in the island’s own recycling plant.
“Guests can immerse themselves in the wonders of the Mamanuca Islands whilst leaving a minimal footprint behind,” Whitton added.
Culinary offerings abound with a choice of three outlets from casual toes-in-the-sand beachside fare, to signature dining in the adults’ restaurant with a daily-changing A la carte menu for dinner.

Tia’s Treehouse Kids Club: A Cultural Immersion
“As a 25‑year‑old, 100% Fijian‑owned resort, the Malolo team takes particular pride in ensuring all guests and families experience the magic of Malolo and the ‘real’ Fiji in their own unique and special way—none more so than in our Kids Club,” said Tony Whitton, Managing Director of Ahura Resorts
Reflecting Malolo’s dedication to family travel, the multi award-winning Tia’s Treehouse Kids Club offers a daily-changing programme that dives deep into Fiji’s environment, culture, and history. Each day brings a fresh theme—from Marine & Natural Environments to Fijian Food & Arts and Crafts—with hands‑on activities such as:
- Herbal‑medicine workshops and talks on endangered species
- Fish‑feeding excursions and iguana‑habitat explorations
- Traditional costume making, face painting, and Fijian language lessons
- Classic Fijian games and storytelling sessions
“Our Kids Club goes beyond babysitting—it truly introduces the magic and heritage of Fiji to our youngest guests,” said Whitton.
Activities and Relaxation at Malolo Island Resort
Malolo Island Resort offers a blend of adventure and tranquility suited to a range of interests. Guests can take advantage of complimentary non-motorized watersports and land activities, including guided walks, beachside cultural activities, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and snorkeling – with gear provided. The resort’s location near the southern Malolo Barrier Reef places it close to some of Fiji’s most well-known surf breaks, such as Cloudbreak and Wilkes Passage. For those seeking a quieter experience, trips to Mociu Island (also known as Honeymoon Island) – Malolo’s exclusive private island, provide opportunities for snorkeling or a peaceful picnic. The new, 1 year old Leilani’s Spa offers a place to unwind with a variety of treatments focused on relaxation and renewal set in a lush jungle enclave.
Easy Access to Island Paradise
Malolo Island Resort is situated just 25 km (16 miles) west of Nadi International Airport in the heart of the Mamanuca archipelago. Visitors can arrive via the resort’s fast catamaran (four crossings daily) or by chartered water taxi, available 24/7. Over the decades, Malolo has welcomed tens of thousands of return guests seeking an authentic Fijian escape—now enhanced with modern amenities and eco‑friendly initiatives.
However, the most exceptional part of a Malolo experience is not something you can touch – you can only feel it. Being Fijian family owned and operated and with a third of the staff born and raised on Malolo Island, guests will certainly know that they have stepped into something special – a new family and home for the duration of their stay. Something to take with them forever – magic Malolo moments.
