During 2025, don’t lockdown, open up. Seek out and value differing perspectives, perceptions and experiences.
They are each invaluable parts of the rich tapestry of life and commerce.
Moreover, the lessons learnt, difficulties endured, and insights gleaned by others are themselves invaluable learning experiences, without any associated pain.
Differing views may, and often do, have subjective relevance to specific circumstances and needs. They do, however, provide a platform to ponder, “what if?”.
In research, hypotheses are tested. Commercial ideas, concepts, proposals, products and services should be subjected to the same rigorous protocols. Temptations to secure affirmations and endorsements should be avoided. An open mind is more receptive to alternative inputs. Take the good with the bad. Apply your judgment calls. Be structured, disciplined and forensic.
Those characteristics contribute to anticipating, monitoring, minimising and managing risk. Eliminating risk is impossible in an imperfect world, economy and marketplace.
Tolerance of pitfalls and shortfalls is generally greater when an appropriate template is applied.
A measure of detachment adds volumes to informed decision-making. Emotions and ego can, and regularly do, compromise objectivity.
Be passionate, committed, energetic, receptive and responsive. Collectively, that can be strikingly different in these challenging times.
