Muogamarra Nature Reserve will be open from 17 August – 22 September. The only way to experience this unique reserve is on a guided or self-guided tour. Visitors can choose from the below tour options:
Muogamarra Bird Gully walk:
A beautiful 3.5km walk that winds along the edge of a hanging swamp and immerses walkers in native plant communities shaped by fire. Grinding grooves above a picturesque waterfall are a reminder of Aboriginal culture. Keep your eyes peeled for black cockatoos and the New Holland honeyeater as you walk amongst vibrant wildflowers.
- Tour time: 9:30am to 2pm, meeting at 9am.
- Tour dates: Saturday 17 August, Friday 23 August, Friday 30 August, Saturday 31 August, Monday 2 September, Monday 9 September and Friday 20 September 2024.

Muogamarra Highlights walk:
This 3km guided walk passes by spectacular flowers of all colours and stops at a natural rock lookout to take in gorgeous views over Bar Island, Berowra Creek and the Hawkesbury River. You’ll learn what inspired John Duncan Tipper to conserve this beautiful pocket of bushland 90 years ago.
- Tour time: 10:30am to 12pm, meet at 10am; and 1:30pm to 3:30pm, meet at 1pm.
- Tour dates: August tour dates: Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Saturday 17 August to Saturday 31 August 2024. September tour dates: Every Saturday and Sunday from Sunday 1 September to Sunday 22 September 2024. And Monday 2 September, Monday 9 September and Friday 20 September 2024.

Muogamarra Lloyd Trig and Deerubbin loop walk:
A 6.6km bushwalk that takes you to Deerubbin lookover via Lloyd Trig. At 180m above sea level, enjoy scenic views out to the Hawkesbury River. See a large Aboriginal rock engraving of a whale and beautiful blooming flowers, as well as magnificent vistas over Milson Passage, Spectacle Island and Long Island.
- Tour time: 10am to 2pm, meeting at 9:30am.

Muogamarra Peats Bight walk:
This challenging 10km full-day walk takes in Peats Crater’s amazing geological features. Walk along a convict-built road and see picturesque Hawkesbury sandstone and impressive volcanic pipes filled with solidified magma. You’ll also walk through lush rainforest and enjoy the views along Berowra Creek and the Hawkesbury River.
- Tour time: 9:30am to 3:30pm, meet at 9am.
- Tour dates: Saturday 17 August, Friday 23 August, Friday 30 August, Saturday 31 August, Monday 2 September, Monday 9 September and Friday 20 September 2024.
- Price: Adult: $55 per person. Concession: $50 per person.
Muogamarra self-guided tour:
Explore the reserve’s beauty at your own pace on a self-guided tour. On arrival you’ll be greeted by friendly volunteers who will provide a self-guided tour map. You can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy before or after you’ve explored.
- Tour dates: Every Sunday from 18 August to 22 September 2024, and Saturday 24 August, 7 September, 14 September and 21 September 2024.
- Price: Child (12 to 16 years): $10 per person. Adults (16 years and over): $15 per person. Concession: $10 per person. Family (2 adults and 2 children): $40. Car space: $5 per vehicle.
