Norway’s premier sustainable luxury travel curator, Up Norway, has unveiled an unparalleled art-infused dining experience at the renowned Kistefos Museum. This exclusive offering, designed for discerning travellers, blends art, architecture, and Norwegian cultural heritage in a seamless, unforgettable journey.
Situated north of Oslo, the Kistefos Museum is celebrated as a “must-see cultural destination” by the New York Times. The experience commences with a private tour of the museum and its expansive sculpture park, guided by Senior Curator Kate Smith. With a rich background from prestigious institutions like Tate Modern and the National Gallery in London, Smith, along with local experts, illuminates the fascinating history and artistic significance of Kistefos.
The Kistefos Sculpture Park showcases an impressive collection of works by internationally acclaimed contemporary artists, including Yayoi Kusama, Tony Cragg, Claes Oldenburg, Anish Kapoor, Olafur Eliasson, Fernando Bottero, and Elmgreen & Dragset. This season, visitors can marvel at a new site-specific sculpture by French-Italian artist Tatiana Trouvé. In the historic Wood Pulp Mill, Trouvé’s piece represents a fictional guardian seated on a chair, symbolizing the protection of the site’s diverse fauna, industrial heritage, and influential figures. This installation engages in a dialogue with other artworks, shedding light on underrepresented stories and addressing various political, ecological, anthropological, and historical themes.
The highlight of this extraordinary journey is ‘The Twist’, an architectural marvel that doubles as an art gallery and bridge over the Randselva River. Known for its iconic aluminium structure that twists 90 degrees from end to end, ‘The Twist’ epitomizes human ingenuity and artistic brilliance. This season, it hosts British artist Hurvin Anderson’s Salon Paintings exhibition, which explores themes of place, identity, community, and culture through his critically acclaimed works.
Guests will savour a meticulously curated four-course gastronomic journey in’ The Twist’. This dining experience, set against the backdrop of stunning architecture, is complemented by an octet’s live performance of “Serenity”. This bespoke composition, inspired by the Norwegian wilderness, the architectural grandeur of ‘The Twist’, and the rhythmic flow of the Randselva River, promises an immersive sensory delight.
Priced at USD 26,300 for up to four guests, the Up Norway Kistefos Experience is available until October 13th, between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The package includes a luxurious pickup from Oslo in a Jaguar, a private guided tour of Kistefos, dinner within ‘The Twist’, and the exclusive musical performance of “Serenity”.
To enhance the experience, Up Norway offers a digital itinerary application that provides comprehensive travel details, personalized recommendations, and 24-hour direct chat access to their team for any inquiries. This seamless integration of technology ensures that travellers have all the information they need at their fingertips.
