Outback Spirit has announced a new tour in 2024, with an 8-day, all-inclusive tour – Arnhem Land & Kakadu Explorer. Guests experience the highlights of both spectacular and remote locales while travelling with the experts in small group outback touring in comfort with meals, beverages, entry permits and flights during the tour all included.
“Exploring Arnhem Land is a hallmark Outback Spirit experience, and we’ve seen an increased desire to visit and learn about the history and culture of this part of Australia – and Kakadu is a highlight for many Top End visitors. We developed this shorter itinerary so that guests with less time have the opportunity to experience these spectacular ancient lands,” says John Barnett, Executive General Manager of Outback Spirit. “From its abundant wildlife to unspoilt rainforests and coastline, Arnhem Land is unlike anywhere else in Australia. Paired with Kakadu National Park, this is the Top End at its best.”
As the spiritual heart of Australia, Arnhem Land (Miwatj) is home to the oldest surviving culture in human history. Stretching over 97,000 square kilometres, the untamed wilderness is a place of natural beauty, but it is also deeply significant to the Traditional Owners, with Indigenous heritage tracked across ancient rock art galleries and sacred sites. During the tour, guests meet Indigenous guides who will share their knowledge, tell dreamtime stories, teach bush tucker foraging and offer insights into the profound connection Aboriginal people have with this region.
Guests on the all-inclusive, 8-day Arnhem Land & Kakadu Explorer tour meet in Darwin for an overnight city stay before flying to Maningrida in Arnhem Land for a two-night stay at Barramundi Lodge, owned and operated by Outback Spirit. The journey continues across bush roads to Mount Borradaile and the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, one of the largest national parks in Australia, covering almost 20,000 square kilometres.
Highlights include:
- Travelling in Outback Spirit’s custom-built Mercedes Benz 4WD coaches.
- A ‘Welcome to Country’ in Maningrida
- Special permission to explore and fish barramundi in the remote Tomkinson River waterways
- Visiting the Maningrida Arts and Cultural Centre and the Djomi Museum, to delve into the cultural and spiritual richness of the area
- Exploring the ancient catacombs and remarkable rock art of Mount Borradaile on an open-back 4WD safari
