Avatar: The Experience Skyrockets Visitor Numbers, Surpasses 2.6 Million in SingaporeIn an unparalleled display of immersive entertainment and technological marvel, “Avatar: The Experience” closed its doors in Singapore, leaving a legacy of unparalleled success. Since its grand opening in the Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay on October 28, 2022, the exhibit has captivated over 2.63 million visitors, including the landmark 2.5 million guests, Ms. Florencia Santorun and Mr. Santiago Laidlaw from Argentina, on December 28, 2023. This event marked a significant milestone for the organisers and the entire entertainment industry in Singapore.

The journey to create “Avatar: The Experience” began in 2021, fueled by a collaboration between Disney Location-Based Experiences, James Cameron and Jon Landau’s Lightstorm Entertainment, and NEON. Their vision was clear: to bring the enchanting world of Pandora to life, leveraging the stunning backdrop of the Cloud Forest. The result? It is an experience that transcended expectations, inviting visitors from around the globe to immerse themselves in the bioluminescent beauty and intricate storytelling that catapulted Avatar to its status as the highest-grossing film globally.

Reflecting on the journey, Mr. Ron Tan, Executive Chairman & Group CEO of NEON, remarked on the significance of the venture. “It was an incredible journey of 419 days of Pandora adventure,” he said. “Welcoming over 2.6 million guests into the enchanting world of Pandora has been nothing short of phenomenal. Together, we’ve redefined the boundaries of entertainment.”

The experience’s success was measured in visitor numbers and its ability to enchant and engage. On December 24, 2023, the exhibit saw a record daily attendance of 12,251 visitors, highlighting its broad appeal. Such achievements underscore the event’s position as the highest attended among all of NEON’s IP shows worldwide.

Recognition of the experience’s excellence came from the prestigious “Outstanding Attraction Experience Award” at the 2023 Singapore Tourism Awards, a testament to NEON’s commitment to quality, innovation, and storytelling. This accolade underscores the experience’s role in setting new standards for immersive entertainment.

Beyond entertainment, “Avatar: The Experience” made significant contributions to society through nearly 50 corporate social responsibility (CSR) visits, benefiting over 3,500 beneficiaries from various charity organizations. This aspect of the experience highlighted the organizers’ commitment to giving back to the community, enhancing the event’s impact beyond its entertainment value.

As the experience concluded, Mr. Felix Loh, CEO of Gardens by the Bay, reflected on the significance of hosting such a groundbreaking event. “Gardens by the Bay is honoured to have been the first location in the world for Avatar: The Experience,” he stated. “The event has not only augmented the visitor experience but also added a new dimension to the Cloud Forest.”
