The 30th edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) will take place from May 1 to May 4, 2023, at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), bringing together travel professionals and policymakers worldwide to explore sustainable solutions for the tourism sector. The theme ‘Working Towards Net Zero’ will feature over 150 speakers across 63 sessions, representing various sectors, including travel, tourism, hospitality, and more.
ATM 2023 will address one of the most significant challenges facing the tourism sector: reducing carbon emissions and achieving net zero. The event’s increased participation highlights the urgency of this issue and reflects the rising demand for leisure and business travel across the Middle East and beyond. Exhibitor participation in ATM 2023 is set to rise by 27% from the previous year, with significant growth across all show sectors.
Industry leaders and policymakers from around the globe, including ministers from the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Jamaica, and Spain, will share knowledge, best practices, and sustainable innovations and explore opportunities and challenges to achieve net zero. Some key figures attending the event include Sir Tim Clark KBE, President of Emirates, and Brian Moran, Vice President – Global Sustainability Policy & Partnerships at Boeing.
ATM 2023 will feature a broad range of critical sector issues, policies, and technologies that have the potential to shape an economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable travel sector for future generations. The event will host over 2,000 exhibitors and over 34,000 attendees from over 150 countries.
To mark the 30th edition of ATM, the organizers will unveil a dedicated sustainability pledge designed to reinforce RX’s commitment to delivering sustainable events. This pledge and a new playbook will offer participants a framework to mitigate their environmental impact before, during, and after the show while offering an operational guide for ATM to work towards net zero by 2030.
The event will also feature a sustainability category at its annual exhibitor awards for the first time, recognizing exhibiting organizations based on the extent to which they have considered the environmental impact of their stands and efforts to reduce their carbon footprint.
The ATM Travel Tech Stage will showcase cutting-edge innovations such as artificial intelligence, the metaverse, cryptocurrency, and big data driving environmentally responsible tourism. The event’s brand-new Sustainability Hub will host sessions dedicated to the latest sustainable travel trends and innovations and the ATM 2023 Start-up Competition, where entrepreneurs will battle it out in a ‘Sustainable Tech Pitch Battle.’
The event aims to explore how innovative sustainable travel trends will likely evolve, allowing delegates to identify growth strategies within vital vertical sectors while providing a platform for regional experts to explore a sustainable future ahead of COP28, which will take place in November 2023 at Expo City Dubai.
ATM 2023 is held in partnership with Dubai World Trade Centre, with Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) as the Destination Partner, Emirates as the Official Airline Partner, IHG Hotels & Resorts as the Official Hotel Partner, and Al Rais Travel as the Official DMC Partner.
In conclusion, the 30th edition of the Arabian Travel Market is set to bring together some of the most significant figures in the tourism sector to explore sustainable solutions for the industry. The event’s focus on achieving net zero emissions in the tourism sector is a crucial step towards a sustainable future for the industry and the planet. With the rising demand for leisure and business travel across the Middle East and beyond, the event’s theme is a timely reminder of the issue’s urgency.
